The layoffs and AI plan includes clear targets for AI-assisted coding. Some teams must reach up to 75% of their code written using AI tools. In core product divisions, engineers are expected to meet high adoption levels within 2026 timelines.

Different teams follow separate benchmarks. For example, machine learning units target 50% to 80% AI-assisted coding. Earlier companywide goals already required more than half of code changes to involve AI tools.These targets show how Meta is integrating automation into software development.

Leadership has also strengthened AI initiatives, with CTO Andrew Bosworth leading the “AI for Work” programme. At the same time, Meta has reduced staff across several divisions, including Reality Labs and recruitment teams.
