Qatar has launched a new scholarship program focused on artificial intelligence and digital technologies. The initiative aims to develop local talent and support the country’s digital transformation goals.

The Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MOEHE) introduced the Digital Transformation Program for the 2026-27 academic year. It launched the initiative in partnership with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) and the Civil Service and Government Development Bureau.

Focus on AI, Cybersecurity and Data Science

The new program will help students build skills in artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, data science, and other digital fields. It also aims to connect education more closely with labor market needs.

As digital adoption grows across industries, demand for skilled professionals continues to increase. Therefore, Qatar is investing in programs that prepare students for future technology-driven careers.

Scholarship Program Extends Beyond University Education

Dr. Hareb Mohammed Al Jabri, Assistant Undersecretary for Higher Education Affairs at MOEHE, described the initiative as a new model for government scholarships.

He said the program goes beyond university admissions. Instead, it supports students at every stage of their academic and professional journey.

Students will receive guidance from secondary school through university studies. They will also gain access to professional training and career opportunities after graduation.

Employment-Linked Scholarships Support National Priorities

A key feature of the initiative is its “scholarship ending with employment” model. Under this approach, students study in fields that match national priorities and workforce demands.

As a result, graduates can move more smoothly into careers that support Qatar’s digital economy.

Al Jabri noted that Qatar has shifted from broad scholarship programs to more targeted initiatives in recent years. He added that the Digital Transformation Program ranks among the country’s most strategic scholarship efforts.

Rising Demand Drives Investment in Digital Talent

The launch comes at a time when organizations need more technology professionals. Both public and private sector employers are increasing their demand for digital skills.

Qatar’s universities now offer more than 40 programs related to digital transformation. This growing number reflects the country’s commitment to developing expertise in advanced technologies.

Government Collaboration Strengthens Workforce Development

Abdullah Al Khalifa, Director of Human Resources at MCIT, said the initiative highlights strong cooperation among government entities.

He explained that the program will prepare Qatari talent for high-demand digital careers. In addition, it will support the country’s long-term economic diversification plans.

The partnership also helps ensure that education outcomes align with future workforce requirements.

Building Qatar’s Future Digital Leaders

Officials expect the program to create a strong pipeline of digital talent. They also believe it will strengthen Qatar’s position in the global digital economy.

Furthermore, the initiative will support wider efforts to expand AI adoption and encourage innovation across key sectors. Through this investment, Qatar aims to equip the next generation with the skills needed for a rapidly changing digital world.
