ABA Oman International School has appointed Dr. Sean Areias as its new Head of School, effective August 2027. The appointment was announced by Search Associates, which said Dr. Areias brings extensive international leadership experience together with a commitment to educational excellence, strategic leadership and student success.
Dr. Areias joins ABA Oman International School after serving as Head of School at the International School of London Qatar. His appointment adds an experienced international educator to the leadership of the Oman based school.
Dr. Sean Areias’ International leadership experience
Dr. Areias currently leads the International School of London Qatar, where he oversees school strategy, organisational culture and operational stewardship. His work has focused on measurable improvement, governance, professional development and learning across a PK to 12 International Baccalaureate school.
Earlier in his career, he served as Interim Superintendent and Deputy Superintendent at the American International School of Lagos. He also held leadership roles at schools in Zimbabwe, Zambia, Puerto Rico and Belgium, building experience across international education systems.

Dr. Areias will assume the position of Head of School at ABA Oman International School in August 2027.

Dr. Areias holds a Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership and a K to 12 Principal Certification from Lehigh University. He also earned a Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction and a Bachelor of Arts in Diversified Liberal Arts from the University of San Diego.
His professional profile highlights expertise in educational leadership, curriculum design and classroom instruction. He has also contributed publications on teacher leadership and child protection in international schools.
