Humaid AL Wahaibi has been appointed Director of Quality Assurance and Risk Management at A’Sharqiyah University in Oman. He announced the appointment on LinkedIn, outlining a role that brings together institutional planning, quality assurance and risk governance under a single leadership mandate.

In his new position, AL Wahaibi will oversee strategic and operational planning while supporting the university’s quality management and institutional performance framework. He also thanked the university’s leadership for its trust and acknowledged colleagues across the institution. He said he looks forward to working with teams across the university as they continue to develop quality, planning and governance initiatives.

Humaid AL Wahaibi to lead Quality and Risk Management

As Director of Quality Assurance and Risk Management, AL Wahaibi will lead strategic and operational planning across the university. His responsibilities include aligning institutional strategy with performance, resource allocation and reporting to support organisational objectives.

In addition, he will oversee institutional performance management through data collection, analysis and reporting to support evidence based decision making. He will also supervise the implementation of a university wide quality management system designed to support consistent academic and administrative processes.

Supporting Accreditation and Institutional governance

AL Wahaibi will oversee the University’s Risk Management Framework and the Institutional Risk Register. Furthermore, he will support colleges and departments with institutional and programme accreditation, including international accreditation activities.

His responsibilities also include promoting a university wide culture of quality and risk awareness. By combining planning, quality assurance and governance functions, the role provides oversight across several areas that support the university’s institutional priorities.

Role focuses on University wide performance

According to his announcement, AL Wahaibi’s responsibilities span multiple institutional functions that support operational effectiveness and long term planning. These include performance monitoring, quality assurance processes, accreditation support, strategic planning and risk governance.

He also highlighted the importance of collaboration across the university, recognising the contribution of colleagues whose work supports these initiatives. In his announcement, he thanked the university leadership for its confidence and said he looks forward to building on the institution’s quality assurance and risk management agenda.
