‘Little Captain’ programme gives young participants hands-on exposure to Qatar’s ports, logistics sector and marine sustainability
The Orphans Care Centre (Dreema), in partnership with Mwani Qatar, has concluded the ‘Little Captain’ programme. The initiative introduced children to Qatar’s maritime and logistics sector through practical learning at the Hamad Port Visitor Centre.

The programme forms part of Dreema’s efforts to expand children’s knowledge through interactive education. Additionally, it helps participants discover their interests while learning about industries that support Qatar’s economic growth.
Programme combines learning with real-world experience
Children explored a range of educational stations during the programme. They learned about Qatar’s maritime heritage and discovered how ports and logistics services operate. They also visited the maritime museum.
In addition, participants joined aquarium learning sessions and workshops on marine life and environmental sustainability. These activities gave them a practical understanding of port operations. At the same time, they highlighted the importance of protecting marine ecosystems.
Dreema promotes career awareness from an early age
Sheikha Najla bint Ahmed Al Thani, Executive Director of Dreema, said the programme reflects the organisation’s commitment to preparing children for the future through meaningful educational experiences.

She added that the partnership with Mwani Qatar gave children a chance to experience the maritime and logistics work environment firsthand. As a result, they gained a better understanding of future career opportunities while building long-term ambitions.

Hamad Ali Faraj Al Ansari, Marketing and Public Relations Manager at Mwani Qatar, said the initiative forms part of the organisation’s 2026 summer programme at the Hamad Port Visitor Centre.
“This initiative reflects Mwani Qatar’s firm commitment to social responsibility and its continuous support for educational and awareness projects targeting younger generations, with the aim of introducing them to the vital role of the maritime and logistics sector in supporting national development.”
He added that interactive learning programmes help young participants understand port operations and logistics services. Moreover, they introduce children to the skills needed for careers in the sector.

Finally, participating children shared positive feedback about the hands-on activities and learning sessions.
