Bank expands green financing, strengthens innovation partnerships and invests in future workforce development across global markets

QNB Group has strengthened its strategic priorities during the second quarter of 2026 by expanding sustainable financing, investing in innovation, and accelerating talent development across its international network.

The Middle East and Africa banking group said its Q2 strategic progress reflects disciplined execution across sustainability, digital innovation and institutional capability. The initiatives also reinforce its long-term focus on economic resilience and responsible growth.

“Our Q2 performance demonstrates clear leadership in financing the region’s future, from pioneering sustainable energy projects to empowering the next generation of innovators,” said Abdulla Mubarak Al Khalifa, Group Chief Executive Officer of QNB.

“Our focus remains on supporting economic development, strengthening institutional resilience, enabling innovation, and delivering sustainable long-term value across the markets we serve.”

He added that QNB’s diversified international presence and strong governance continue to position the bank to navigate changing market conditions while maintaining customer-focused growth.

QNB expands sustainable financing across key international markets

During the quarter, QNB financed several large-scale infrastructure and sustainability projects across North Africa and Türkiye.

QNB Egypt participated in financing Green Sky Capital’s $500 million Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) facility in Egypt’s Suez Canal Economic Zone. The project will produce up to 200,000 tonnes of biofuel annually and could reduce carbon emissions by around 500,000 tonnes each year.

The bank also signed an EGP 5.5 billion financing agreement with MARAKEZ to support the expansion of the District 5 mixed-use development in East Cairo.

In addition, QNB Egypt provided an EGP 3 billion credit facility to GlobalCorp Financial Services Group to expand financial leasing and real estate financing.

Furthermore, the bank arranged an EGP 11.98 billion syndicated loan for Kased Khair for General Supplies and Contracting. The funding will support the development of new marine berths at East Port Said Port and strengthen Egypt’s logistics infrastructure.

Meanwhile, QNB Türkiye provided $38 million in long-term financing for renewable energy projects. The funding includes $23 million for a 36MW solar power plant and $15 million to partially finance a 140MW wind energy project.

Together, these investments strengthen QNB’s commitment to financing sustainable infrastructure and supporting economic growth.

Innovation and talent development remain strategic priorities

QNB continued to expand its investment in innovation and workforce capability during the quarter.

The bank partnered with Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar (CMU-Q) to establish the QNB Center for Business Innovation. The centre will promote artificial intelligence, analytics, financial literacy and leadership development while strengthening Qatar’s knowledge economy.

At the same time, QNB expanded its scholarship programme for Qatari students pursuing studies in cybersecurity, engineering, finance, business management and technology.

The bank also hosted a delegation from the Qatar Leadership Centre at QNB Suisse in Geneva. Participants explored global wealth management, sustainable finance and international financial markets.

Additionally, QNB Indonesia received multiple honours at the HR Asia Awards 2026, including the HR Asia Best Companies to Work for in Asia Award and the HR Asia People Transformation Award.

Sustainability strategy gains international recognition

QNB’s sustainability strategy continued to receive global recognition.

During Eid Al Adha, the bank organised visits to Enaya Specialized Care Centers in Qatar to support patients and their families.

In Tunisia, QNB sponsored a multidisciplinary medical caravan at the Regional Hospital of Mareth, helping improve access to specialist healthcare for local communities.

QNB to accelerate digital banking and wealth management in Q3

Looking ahead, QNB plans to strengthen its leadership in sustainable finance while expanding digital banking capabilities.
