According to Times of Oman, published in July 2026, Oman urban development moved forward as the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning led a delegation to Turkey to strengthen investment cooperation in housing, real estate, and sustainable city projects. The visit included more than 20 meetings and field visits aimed at expanding partnerships and supporting Oman Vision 2040.
Oman Urban Development projects expand partnerships
The Omani delegation was led by Dr. Khalfan bin Saeed Al Shuaili, Minister of Housing and Urban Planning. Representatives from the Ministry, Khazaen Economic City, the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI), and Omani real estate developers also joined the programme.
Throughout the visit, the delegation held more than 20 meetings, networking sessions, and site visits with government agencies, investors, developers, construction companies, and financing institutions. These engagements focused on attracting quality investment while connecting Oman urban development projects with international expertise.
The programme also included visits to residential, commercial, tourism, and mixed-use developments across Turkey to exchange knowledge on urban planning and project delivery.
Investment talks focus on sustainable cities
The delegation met Turkish authorities responsible for housing and urban planning, the Real Estate Developers Association, and leading companies in construction and investment. Discussions highlighted Oman’s future cities, integrated residential neighbourhoods, and investment opportunities.
Officials presented Oman’s legislative framework, developer incentives, and investment environment while encouraging Turkish companies to participate in Oman urban development initiatives. They also explored cooperation in project management, advanced construction technologies, digital transformation, and real estate development.
Both sides reviewed off-plan property sales, real estate financing, foreign ownership regulations, investment guarantees, registration procedures, local content requirements, and talent attraction.
Knowledge exchange supports Oman Urban Development
Field visits allowed the delegation to study Turkey’s experience in urban regeneration, waterfront developments, tourism projects, and community management. These visits provided practical insights into planning, implementation, and sustainable city development.
Officials also observed how integrated urban projects combine residential, commercial, and public spaces to improve the quality of life. They exchanged views on project execution, infrastructure planning, and long-term city management with Turkish experts.
The exchange of knowledge will support Oman urban development projects 2026 by introducing international best practices that align with the Sultanate’s long-term urban planning goals.
Partnerships strengthen economic cooperation
Ali bin Mohammed Al Lawati, Chairman of the Real Estate Development Committee at the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said the visit strengthened economic and investment ties between Oman and Turkey. He noted that it created new opportunities for private sector cooperation while encouraging the exchange of expertise in urban development.
Al Lawati added that Turkey’s experience demonstrates how the real estate sector can support construction, tourism, financial services, and broader economic activity. Oman urban development continues to benefit from international partnerships that strengthen sustainable cities, attract investment, and support long-term economic growth.
