The ongoing debate around TCS layoffs has taken a sharper turn, with the Pune Labour Commissioner’s Office summoning Tata Consultancy Services in several employee-filed cases. The action signals stronger official involvement in a dispute that has steadily intensified.

Summons mark a turning point

Complaints related to TCS layoffs have been rising for months. According to the Nascent Information Technology Employees Senate (NITES), multiple former employees approached labour officials individually, alleging coerced resignations and sudden exits. The union has supported them with documentation and follow-up.

Recently, NITES posted photographs of the summons on X. The notices call on TCS representatives to appear before the Government Labour Officer on 18 November 2025. Each document lists specific complaints raised by affected staff, giving the matter wider visibility.

Union pushes for accountability

NITES says it has consistently flagged concerns about how mid- and senior-level employees were treated during this phase of TCS layoffs. Furthermore, the union argues that the cases point to possible breaches of due-process requirements. It has also urged labour authorities to examine the allegations closely and ensure statutory rules are followed.

In addition, the organisation said it has been assisting employees who claim they were pressured to resign or removed without proper procedure. These petitions, filed individually, therefore reflect a pattern that NITES has been highlighting for several months.

Awaiting TCS response

However, TCS has not commented publicly on the summons. The union’s statement on X also did not include any response from the company. Consequently, this lack of clarity has added to the uncertainty surrounding the allegations connected to TCS layoffs.

What comes next?

Therefore, the 18 November hearing is expected to influence how officials approach similar complaints in the IT sector. Moreover, the outcome may shape future discussions around TCS layoffs, workforce restructuring, and employee rights during organisational changes.

As the date approaches, both workers and employers are now watching the dispute closely. In turn, they are anticipating its impact on ongoing tensions within India’s technology industry.
