The SBI junior associates recruitment forms part of the broader SBI hiring drive 2026. The bank said the hiring supports efforts to strengthen frontline banking services across its nationwide branch network.
SBI confirmed that the new recruits will support customer service and daily branch operations. The move also aligns with the bank’s plan to expand service delivery in both urban and rural locations.
This recruitment round follows a large workforce expansion across multiple roles during the financial year.
SBI junior associates recruitment adds over 18,000 employees
The latest recruitment round brings the total number of new employees hired this fiscal year to more than 18,000 across different roles and grades.
The hiring drive reflects the bank’s focus on strengthening its workforce while improving customer experience. SBI operates one of the largest banking networks in India.
The bank currently employs more than 2,48,000 people, making it one of the country’s largest employers in the financial sector.
Recruitment process drew over nine lakh applicants
The SBI junior associates recruitment process attracted a strong response from job seekers nationwide. According to the bank, 9,00,771 candidates applied for the positions.
The recruitment process began with preliminary examinations held in September 2025. After evaluation, 1,20,006 candidates qualified for the main examination conducted in November 2025.
Finally, 5,783 candidates were selected for appointment under the current recruitment cycle.
SBI junior associates recruitment boosts future workforce growth
SBI Chairman Challa Sreenivasulu Setty said the hiring reflects the bank’s commitment to strengthening frontline capabilities. He also stated that the organization plans to recruit around 16,000 employees each year.
The bank aims to double its total business to Rs 200 lakh crore within five to six years. According to the leadership, expanding a digitally skilled workforce will support this growth strategy.
Through continued SBI junior recruitment, the bank plans to build a workforce capable of delivering technology-enabled banking services across India.
