According to reports published in May 2026, the Royal Oman Police (ROP) secured representation in the World Health Organization’s Global Technical Committee for Road Safety Legislation after gaining international recognition for its AI-driven traffic safety initiatives in Oman.

Oman AI traffic safety gains international recognition

The World Health Organization selected the Royal Oman Police to represent the Eastern Mediterranean Region within the global committee focused on road safety legislation. The appointment makes ROP the only security and military entity participating in the international forum.

The recognition followed ROP’s performance at the International Road Federation Global Awards 2025, where the organization won first place for its use of artificial intelligence and advanced data analytics in traffic management operations. Officials said the achievement reflects Oman’s continued focus on adopting technology-driven systems to improve road safety and public service efficiency.

ROP AI solutions improve traffic management

The ROP artificial intelligence traffic management system uses AI-powered monitoring tools and scientific accident analysis to identify high-risk traffic areas across Oman. Authorities used these systems to improve emergency response procedures and reduce accident rates in targeted locations.

Officials also integrated data analytics into traffic monitoring operations to support road safety planning and improve decision-making processes. The technology helps authorities monitor traffic movement, review accident patterns, and strengthen response coordination during emergencies. AI-based systems also support faster incident tracking and improve traffic flow management across busy road networks.

Oman AI traffic safety supports smart infrastructure

Oman AI traffic safety initiatives form part of broader efforts to improve public safety and infrastructure development through digital technologies. Authorities continue expanding the use of modern systems linked to road management and traffic monitoring services.

The use of AI technology in transport operations also supports Oman’s national road safety policies. Officials said advanced monitoring systems help improve operational efficiency while supporting long-term traffic management objectives across the country. Authorities also continue reviewing digital traffic solutions designed to improve transport infrastructure and road monitoring capabilities.

AI systems strengthen Oman road safety operations

ROP continues adopting technology-driven systems to improve road safety procedures and emergency management services. The organization’s participation in international road safety discussions also increases Oman’s presence in global traffic safety initiatives.

Authorities stated that AI-powered systems remain an important part of future traffic management strategies and public safety operations. Oman AI traffic safety projects continue supporting digital transformation efforts connected to transport infrastructure and emergency response services. Officials also highlighted the role of scientific traffic analysis in supporting road safety planning and improving operational response times across different regions.
