Digital integration between the government HR and electronic sick leave platforms will reduce processing time from 81 working hours to one hour, streamlining employee services across Qatar’s public sector.

Qatar has integrated its government human resources system, Mawared, with the electronic sick leave platform, e-Jaza, to reduce processing times and simplify sick leave procedures for public sector employees.

The Civil Service and Government Development Bureau (CGB), in cooperation with the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH), announced the electronic integration. The initiative aims to accelerate digital transformation and improve the delivery of government services.

Under the new system, the average processing time for sick leave requests is expected to fall from 81 working hours to just one hour. The integration will also automate data transfers, procedures and notifications between the two platforms.

Qatar Automates Sick Leave Processing Across Government

The integration enables sick leave data to move automatically and securely between Mawared and e-Jaza. As a result, government employees and entities will face fewer manual procedures when submitting and processing sick leave requests.

The system is designed to improve the speed, accuracy and security of sick leave administration. It will also reduce the administrative workload for government departments and limit the time employees spend following up on requests.

Furthermore, automated notifications will help streamline communication between the relevant government systems. This is expected to improve the employee experience while supporting more efficient human resource management across the public sector.

Mawared and e-Jaza Support Qatar’s Digital HR Strategy

The e-Jaza platform is Qatar’s central digital system for issuing, managing and verifying electronic sick leave certificates. The Ministry of Public Health and the Department of Healthcare Professions manage the platform.

Meanwhile, Mawared serves as the government’s integrated human resources information management system. The Civil Service and Government Development Bureau supervises the platform, which supports employee administration across government entities.

Mawared provides digital services for recruitment, training, professional development and performance evaluation. Its integration with e-Jaza extends these capabilities to sick leave administration, connecting healthcare-related certification with government HR processes.

Digital Integration Targets Faster and More Efficient Public Services

The integration forms part of Qatar’s broader efforts to digitise government operations and improve public service delivery. By connecting systems that previously required separate procedures, the initiative aims to reduce administrative delays and improve data exchange.

For government HR teams, the shift to automated sick leave processing could reduce routine administrative tasks and free up time for other workforce management responsibilities. Employees, in turn, can benefit from faster processing and fewer procedural steps.

The initiative also reflects the growing role of interconnected digital platforms in public sector human resource management. As government entities adopt integrated systems, secure data exchange and automated workflows can support more consistent and efficient employee services.

The Civil Service and Government Development Bureau announced the integration through a social media post. No direct quotation from an official was included in the announcement.

The integration of Mawared and e-Jaza marks another step in Qatar’s digital transformation of government HR services, with a focus on reducing processing time, improving operational efficiency and simplifying the employee experience.
