Identity security provider Saviynt has launched a data residency solution in Saudi Arabia, allowing organisations to manage digital identities while keeping sensitive data within the Kingdom.
The solution runs on Google Cloud’s Dammam region and extends Saviynt’s Enterprise Identity Cloud platform to Saudi customers. It targets government entities, financial institutions and other regulated organisations that need local data storage to meet regulatory requirements.
The deployment comes as Saudi Arabia strengthens its focus on personal data protection and digital transformation. It also addresses growing demand for local cloud infrastructure as businesses expand their use of artificial intelligence (AI).
Saviynt targets Saudi Arabia’s data residency requirements
Saudi Arabia’s Personal Data Protection Law (PDPL) governs how organisations handle personal data. Data residency is therefore an important consideration for businesses managing sensitive identity information.
Such information can include user records, access permissions and approval data. Keeping this information within national borders can help organisations meet local requirements while managing identity security risks.
Saviynt said its new deployment supports these needs without requiring customers to manage their own infrastructure. The company also aims to help organisations modernise identity governance as they expand their cloud operations.
However, local hosting alone does not establish compliance with every applicable regulation. Organisations must still assess their data processing activities and other legal obligations.
AI adoption raises the importance of identity security
Saudi organisations are expanding cloud adoption and introducing AI into business operations. As a result, identity security increasingly covers not only employees and applications but also AI agents.
These systems can access business applications and information to perform tasks. Organisations must therefore manage permissions and control access across both human and non-human identities.
Kamel Heus, vice-president of sales for the Middle East and Africa at Saviynt, said identity security is becoming central to AI governance.
“Identity is becoming the control plane for AI, and Saudi organizations need solutions that address their evolving regulatory and data residency requirements,” Heus said.
He added that hosting the platform in Google Cloud’s Dammam region, alongside Saviynt’s local legal entity, would help organisations address local requirements while modernising identity security.
Heus identified government, financial services, energy and telecommunications among the sectors the solution aims to serve.
Local hosting offers cloud-based identity management
Saviynt’s Saudi deployment provides access to its cloud-native, software-as-a-service (SaaS) identity security platform. The company said the arrangement offers local data residency and improved performance through hosting within the Kingdom.
Customers can also access Saviynt’s local legal entity for business transactions, alongside local support and regional expertise.
The platform is designed to help organisations move away from legacy infrastructure while updating how they manage digital identities and access permissions.
Niraj Gopal, vice-president of product management at Saviynt, said the launch would make its identity security and AI capabilities more accessible to Saudi organisations.
“Our cloud-native, SaaS-based platform brings modern identity security and AI capabilities to Saudi Arabia, helping organizations move beyond legacy infrastructure while benefiting from a more seamless experience and improved performance through local hosting,” Gopal said.
He added that the platform would allow organisations to modernise identity operations through a scalable service that continues to evolve.
Saudi deployment became available in October
Saviynt said the solution became available on 1 October 2026. Under the deployment, customer data, personally identifiable information (PII), encryption keys, logs and metadata are hosted within Saudi Arabia.
The launch adds a local hosting option for organisations seeking cloud-based identity governance. It also reflects the growing role of data location and access controls in enterprise technology decisions.
For Saudi businesses, the development brings identity management, cloud infrastructure and data residency into a single operational consideration as AI adoption expands.
