Abhishek announced the development on LinkedIn, expressing gratitude to the leadership and management team for their continued trust and support. He also highlighted his commitment to contributing to the next phase of ACWA Power’s growth journey.
The appointment comes at a crucial time for ACWA Power as the company expands its renewable energy portfolio in line with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 and broader regional decarbonisation goals. According to his professional profile, Abhishek currently leads project development and business development initiatives focused on achieving more than 100 GW of renewable energy and battery energy storage system (BESS) implementation targets in the Middle East and Saudi Arabia by 2030.
Strong Track Record in Renewable Energy Development
With more than a decade of experience in renewable energy and power transmission across the Middle East, Africa and Central Asia, Abhishek has played a key role in delivering large-scale clean energy projects. During his tenure at ACWA Power, he contributed to the development of nearly 40 GW of renewable energy projects while helping mobilise investments exceeding $20 billion.
He has also overseen project development, EPC negotiations, tariff discussions, financial closures and stakeholder management for several utility-scale solar and energy storage projects. In addition, he currently serves on the boards of multiple special purpose vehicles linked to ACWA Power’s solar initiatives in Saudi Arabia.
Before joining ACWA Power, Abhishek held leadership positions at Larsen & Toubro and Phelan Energy Group, where he managed renewable energy expansion projects across Europe, Africa, India and Southeast Asia.
Focus on Energy Transition and Regional Growth
Industry experts expect the appointment to support ACWA Power’s aggressive renewable expansion strategy, especially in solar energy and battery storage systems. The company continues to strengthen its regional presence through utility-scale projects, strategic partnerships and energy transition investments.
Abhishek’s elevation also reflects the increasing importance of experienced project development leaders in driving the next wave of clean energy deployment across the Gulf region.
