TRANSOM Handling has elevated Abdul Aziz Al Balushi to the role of Director of Outstation, expanding his leadership responsibilities across Oman’s regional airport network. In his new position, he will oversee outstation operations at Salalah, Duqm, Khasab, Sohar and the country’s oil field airports, with responsibility for operational excellence, service quality and airport ground handling activities.
The appointment follows a series of progressively senior leadership roles within TRANSOM Handling and reflects Al Balushi’s long standing contribution to the organisation. With more than 18 years of experience in airport operations, ramp services and aviation management, he brings extensive operational knowledge to the position.
TRANSOM handling promotes long serving Aviation leader
Abdul Aziz Al Balushi most recently served as Acting Director of Outstation, a position he held from May 2025 to March 2026 before taking on the permanent leadership role. Earlier in 2025, he worked as Manager of Ground Support Equipment Operations, following more than three years as Station Manager in Salalah.
His career at TRANSOM Handling has developed through a succession of operational leadership positions. These include Duty Manager of Ramp and Cargo, Duty Manager of Ramp Services, Officer of Ramp Services, Supervisor of Ramp Services, Turnaround Coordinator and Guest Services Agent. The progression highlights more than a decade of operational experience within the organisation before his latest appointment.
Abdul Aziz Al Balushi brings Broad Airport Operations experience
Across his aviation career, Al Balushi has built experience in airport operations, ground handling, ramp services, cargo operations, turnaround management and customer service. His background also includes aviation leadership and operational excellence across several airport functions, supporting the efficient movement of passengers, aircraft and ground operations.
Before joining TRANSOM Handling, Al Balushi worked with Emirates as a Passenger Service Agent in Dubai between 2008 and 2010. That role provided early international aviation experience before he returned to Oman and continued building his career within airport ground handling operations.
His responsibilities have expanded steadily over the years, covering operational management, equipment oversight, station leadership and regional airport coordination. The latest appointment places him in charge of outstation operations across multiple airports while maintaining service quality and operational standards throughout the network.
Academic background supports leadership development
Alongside his professional experience, Al Balushi has continued to invest in his academic development. He completed a Master’s degree in Business Administration and Management at Dhofar University between 2022 and 2025, strengthening his management and leadership capabilities.
He also studied Business Administration and Management at Staffordshire University, earning qualifications in the discipline between 2015 and 2018. His educational background complements his practical experience across airport operations and aviation management.
