AHOY has appointed Kamil Hilali to its Board of Directors as an Independent Director. The appointment is effective immediately, with statutory director filings underway.
Hilali is Group CEO of TASC Towers Holding, an independent digital infrastructure platform operating across the Middle East and North Africa. He also serves as a Non Executive Director on the Board of Zain KSA.
Kamil Hilali brings digital infrastructure experience
Before joining AHOY’s board, Hilali served as Group Chief Strategy Officer of Zain Group. In that role, he led the development and execution of the 4Sight and 4WARD strategies.
Those strategies supported Zain’s evolution from a mobile operator into a diversified digital and infrastructure technology company. Hilali also led M&A transactions, capital restructurings, IPOs and tower divestments.
Earlier in his career, Hilali worked in asset management at JPMorgan Chase & Co. in New York. He also worked in private equity at the KIPCO affiliated North Africa Holding Company.
His academic background includes an MBA from Suffolk University and a Master’s in Finance from London Business School. He also completed the Venture Capital Unlocked programme at Stanford University.
AHOY adds board experience as it scales
According to AHOY, Hilali joins the board as the group moves into its scale phase. The company is expanding across Physical AI, Sovereign AI and what it describes as the emerging MENA Third Pole.
The company is also working on a strategic capital raise, sovereign grade deployments and international expansion. AHOY said Hilali’s infrastructure experience, cross border M&A background and MENA capital markets knowledge will support this phase.
For AHOY, the appointment adds a board member with experience across infrastructure operations, corporate strategy and capital markets. His current role at TASC Towers Holding also gives him experience in the region’s digital infrastructure sector.
AHOY outlines the director’s mandate
AHOY Founder and CEO Jamil Shinawi said Hilali’s experience would strengthen the company’s board as it expands its platform.
“Kamil is the right director at the right time,” Shinawi said. He added that Hilali brings infrastructure operating experience, strategic clarity and global capital markets knowledge.
Shinawi also pointed to Hilali’s experience in transforming digital infrastructure businesses. He said this would support AHOY’s plans to scale its Sovereign Physical AI platform from the region to international markets.
AHOY builds Physical AI infrastructure
AHOY describes itself as a deep tech frontier lab and infrastructure company focused on Physical AI. Its systems are designed to perceive, decide and operate in physical environments.
The company’s modular technology stack runs on chip, at the edge, on premises and in hybrid cloud configurations. AHOY says the platform provides auditable action for cities, transportation networks, utilities, sovereign sites and other complex operational environments.
Founded by Jamil Shinawi in 2018, AHOY operates from offices in Canada, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, the UK and other locations.
