Aramco Digital has appointed Dr. Ashraf AlTahini as Chief Executive Officer, succeeding Nabil Al-Nuaim, marking a strategic leadership shift as the company accelerates its industrial AI ambitions. The company confirmed the transition in an official statement. It thanked Al-Nuaim for his role in building the organisation since inception and supporting its early growth journey.
At the same time, the company said AlTahini’s appointment marks a new phase focused on scaling execution and deepening digital transformation across critical sectors.
Nearly three decades of digital transformation leadership
AlTahini brings close to 30 years of experience in digital transformation, innovation, and advanced technologies. He has led large-scale programmes and built high-impact digital organisations across industries.
Before taking over as CEO, he served as Business Executive President and Board Member at Aramco Digital. In that role, he drove enterprise-wide strategy, governance, and value creation.
Earlier, at Saudi Aramco, he held several senior leadership roles. Notably, as Vice President of the Upstream Digital Center, he led one of the company’s largest digital transformation initiatives. He focused on operational modernisation, industrial innovation, and advanced technology deployment.
In addition, he led the EXPEC Advanced Research Center. There, he oversaw global research programmes, sustainability initiatives, and international innovation hubs.
Strategic push toward industrial AI and connected ecosystems
Aramco Digital said it will sharpen its focus on industrial AI under AlTahini’s leadership. The company aims to build more connected, intelligent, and resilient digital ecosystems.
Moreover, it plans to scale advanced industrial platforms, expand connectivity infrastructure, and accelerate enterprise transformation initiatives.
AlTahini emphasised execution as a top priority. He said the company will translate capabilities into measurable outcomes and long-term impact.
“We will accelerate industrial digital transformation through advanced platforms and solutions that enable smarter, more connected operations,” he said.
He also highlighted the importance of collaboration. He added that teams and partners will play a key role in achieving the company’s next milestones.
Leadership continuity aligned with Vision 2030
Meanwhile, Al-Nuaim expressed confidence in the transition. He thanked stakeholders for their support and endorsed the incoming leadership.
“I am confident the journey of excellence will continue,” he said.
The leadership change comes as Aramco Digital expands its role in supporting Saudi Arabia’s digital economy. The company continues to align its strategy with Saudi Vision 2030, which prioritises technology-led growth and economic diversification.
Strong academic and technical foundation
AlTahini holds a Ph.D. and M.S. in Petroleum and Geological Engineering from the University of Oklahoma. He also earned a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals.
