Island Oil has appointed Dimitris Mertikas as Head of International Trading in Dubai. The company announced the appointment through a LinkedIn post. Mertikas said he has worked with many of the people behind Island Oil throughout his career. He added that he has long respected the team’s professionalism, integrity, and relationship focused approach to business.
Dimitris Mertikas brings extensive trading experience
According to Mertikas’ professional profile, he has built his career in marine fuel trading and international shipping. He has held senior commercial and trading positions across the sector, with experience in operations, team management, negotiations, and international trading.
Before joining Island Oil, Mertikas worked at Glander International Bunkering, where he served as Key Account Manager. Earlier in his career, he spent more than a decade with Praxis Energy Agents DMCC, including nine years as Senior Manager for bunker trading.
His professional profile also highlights experience in commercial strategy, supplier relationships, contract negotiations, legal dispute management, credit risk, sales performance, and team development.
