Oman employment opportunities remained at the centre of discussions as the Youth and Human Resources Committee of the Shura Council met officials from the Authority for Public Services Regulation and Nama Water Services in Muscat. The meeting reviewed workforce development, Omanisation, operational contracts, and employment initiatives across the electricity and water sectors.

631 Employment Opportunities boost workforce

The Committee hosted Dr. Mansoor Al Hinai, President of the Authority for Public Services Regulation, along with specialists from the Authority and officials from Nama Water Services. The discussions focused on operational contracts and programmes designed to strengthen the national workforce across regulated sectors.

Committee Chairman Younis Al Mundhri reaffirmed the Committee’s commitment to supporting employment, training, and sustainable career pathways for Omani citizens. He also highlighted the importance of preparing national talent for strategic positions through continuous workforce development.

The meeting further examined vacancies for meter readers, operational contracts in the water sector, and employment prospects linked to the Sultanate’s agreement with the French company SUEZ.

Workplace reforms boost Oman employment

Participants reviewed measures to improve working conditions within companies regulated by the Authority. Discussions focused on reducing differences in salaries and employment benefits between directly employed staff and subcontracted workers.

The Committee also emphasised employment equity, talent retention, and improved workplace standards. These measures aim to strengthen institutional performance while supporting Oman employment opportunities across the utility sector.

Officials also reviewed initiatives that increase Omanisation in technical, specialised, and administrative roles, supporting the objectives of Oman Vision 2040 for human capital development.

Training programmes build national talent

Dr. Mansoor Al Hinai reaffirmed the Authority’s commitment to ensuring job stability for employees working in contracted companies. He said the agreement with the French company includes provisions that safeguard the employment of the national workforce in the water sector.

The agreement also provides employee benefits, professional development opportunities, and specialised training programmes. The Authority is also studying proposals that encourage knowledge transfer, strengthen technical and administrative capabilities, and prepare future Omani leaders.

Dr. Al Hinai added that the Authority has begun addressing outstanding vacancies for meter readers while continuing specialised training programmes that improve workforce readiness and productivity.

Recruitment initiative supports long term employment

The Committee welcomed the Authority’s recently announced recruitment package offering 631 employment opportunities Oman under the ‘Nu’ahil Li Numakkin’ (Train to Empower) programme. Members described the initiative as an important step towards preparing Omani talent for the labour market.

The Committee also commended ongoing Omanisation efforts in technical and operational positions supported by structured training programmes. According to the discussions, Oman employment opportunities will continue to benefit from initiatives that strengthen workforce skills, improve job security, and create sustainable career pathways across regulated sectors.
