Kuwait is strengthening its labour governance through closer coordination between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Public Authority for Manpower. During a joint meeting in Kuwait City on July 6, officials reviewed workers’ rights, labour legislation, and international commitments. The discussions focused on advancing Kuwait labour policies, improving labour protection, and creating a balanced framework that safeguards the interests of both workers and employers.

The meeting also emphasized the need for stronger coordination between government agencies responsible for labour affairs. Officials agreed that closer cooperation can help improve policy implementation, strengthen oversight, and create a more transparent labour market. They also discussed practical measures to support fair treatment for workers across different sectors.
Sheikha Jawaher Ibrahim Al-Duaij Al-Sabah said Kuwait remains committed to fulfilling its obligations under International Labour Organization conventions. She noted that continued cooperation among national institutions plays an important role in protecting workers’ rights while supporting the country’s broader human rights commitments in the labour sector.
Meanwhile, officials highlighted the importance of updating labour regulations to meet changing workforce needs. They said future coordination will also focus on improving cooperation with labour-sending countries and international organizations, helping Kuwait strengthen its labour framework while ensuring a stable and well-regulated working environment.
Kuwait Labour Policies meet global standards successfully
The meeting highlighted Kuwait’s continued efforts to align Kuwait labour policies with International Labour Organization conventions. Officials said regular coordination between government institutions strengthens labour governance, improves policy implementation, and helps Kuwait meet its international commitments on workers’ rights and labour protection.
Director General of the Public Authority for Manpower Rabab Al-Osaimi said the cooperation supports a safe and stable work environment for both workers and employers. She explained that the authority is working closely with the Foreign Ministry to strengthen regulatory mechanisms and improve labour market governance.
Al-Osaimi also said both sides are preparing bilateral memoranda of understanding with labour-sending countries while expanding cooperation with international organizations. These efforts aim to simplify labour procedures, improve the implementation of agreements, and further strengthen Kuwait labour policies through coordinated institutional action.
Labour framework focuses on workers and employers
Officials noted that stronger governance helps protect both employees and businesses by creating a more transparent and accountable labour system. They also discussed regulatory improvements designed to simplify procedures, improve compliance, and strengthen labour market oversight across different sectors.
The meeting further highlighted the importance of continuous coordination between government institutions to ensure labour laws remain effective and responsive to changing workforce needs. Officials said these efforts will also help improve administrative processes and reinforce protections for all parties in the labour market.
Through these initiatives, Kuwait labour policies continue to promote fair employment practices, stronger institutional coordination, and effective implementation of labour agreements. The ongoing collaboration also supports Kuwait’s commitment to maintaining a stable labour environment that aligns with international standards.
Kuwait Labour Policies reviewed at international conference
The meeting also reviewed Kuwait’s participation in the 114th session of the International Labour Conference, which took place from June 1 to 12. Representatives from the Public Authority for Manpower, the Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the Kuwait Trade Union Federation participated in the conference to discuss labour-related issues and international cooperation.
Officials also assessed the outcomes of the conference and highlighted the importance of exchanging expertise with global partners. They said participation in international forums helps Kuwait strengthen labour governance, support policy development, and stay aligned with evolving international labour standards.
Representatives from the Foreign Ministry’s Legal Affairs and Consular Affairs departments joined the coordination meeting alongside specialists from the Public Authority for Manpower.
