Reem ALQumaish has been appointed President of the Bahrain Wales Society, known as BHGB. A student at Cardiff University in the United Kingdom, she plans to bring Bahraini students together, strengthen their community and celebrate their culture and heritage in Wales.

Reem ALQumaish takes on a student leadership role

ALQumaish announced her appointment in a LinkedIn post, describing the role as an honour. She said she looks forward to bringing Bahraini students together and strengthening their community while studying in Wales.

Her stated priorities include building connections among students and celebrating their shared culture and heritage. Through this role, she intends to support a stronger sense of community among Bahraini students in Wales.

The appointment adds a student leadership responsibility to ALQumaish’s current university experience. However, her announcement did not specify the length of her term or outline individual initiatives planned for the society.

Reem ALQumaish’s education and experience

ALQumaish is currently studying psychology at Cardiff University. Her academic background places her within the university’s student community in the United Kingdom, where the Bahrain Wales Society aims to bring Bahraini students together.

Her previous experience includes a human resources traineeship at Bahrain’s Education and Training Quality Authority (BQA). She held the trainee position from August to September 2025, gaining exposure to a professional human resources environment.

Earlier, ALQumaish undertook ABA therapy shadowing at THINK Behavior and Development Center for Children in Bahrain from June to July 2025. She also completed psychiatrist shadowing at Dr Abdulla Kamal Medical Center between July and August 2022.

These experiences span human resources and healthcare-related settings. Her current role as society president, meanwhile, focuses on student community engagement and cultural connections.

Focus on Bahraini students and cultural heritage

In her announcement, ALQumaish highlighted three priorities: bringing Bahraini students together, strengthening their community and celebrating Bahraini culture and heritage in Wales.

Her appointment places her in a representative role within the student community. The announcement did not provide further details about the society’s membership, activities or upcoming events.

For now, ALQumaish has outlined a clear direction for her presidency: supporting connections among Bahraini students and maintaining links with their cultural heritage while they study in Wales.
