Cimplr by Cashinvoice has appointed Sandeep Das as Managing Director for the Middle East and Asia-Pacific (APAC). The appointment supports the enterprise finance platform’s expansion across the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and Asian markets.
Based in Dubai, Das will lead regional expansion and build partnerships with banks, financial institutions and corporate clients. He will also develop technology-led supply chain finance solutions to address businesses’ working capital needs.
Das brings more than 30 years of experience in corporate, institutional and investment banking. He has spent over two decades working across Middle Eastern and Asian financial markets.
Cimplr targets GCC and APAC markets
The appointment follows Cimplr’s entry into the UAE as the company expands its international operations.
The platform plans to enter more GCC markets by partnering with regional banks and anchor corporates. It aims to offer solutions covering treasury, investment, risk management and payments before expanding into selected APAC markets.
Cimplr is also broadening its offering beyond supply chain finance. The company aims to build a unified enterprise finance platform that brings together financing, working capital, treasury, payments and risk management.
Das will work with the leadership team to establish institutional partnerships and develop solutions suited to individual markets. His banking experience will support the company’s efforts to build relationships across the regional financial sector.
Sandeep Das to focus on working capital finance
Working capital is a key focus for Cimplr as businesses seek to manage cash flow, trade finance and supplier payments.
Das highlighted the challenges that delayed payments create for smaller suppliers in the UAE.
“The Middle East and APAC markets are seeing a growing focus on improving working capital efficiency, strengthening trade flows and building more resilient supply chains,” Das said.
He added that around half of B2B sales in the UAE take place on credit, while close to 60% of those invoices are deferred. As a result, smaller suppliers can end up financing larger buyers while waiting for payment.
Cimplr aims to use technology to improve access to supply chain finance. Das said the company’s experience in India could help it address similar working capital challenges across GCC markets.
“I look forward to taking this experience to GCC markets, building strong institutional partnerships and developing solutions that address the working capital needs of businesses across the region,” he said.
Cimplr looks to strengthen institutional partnerships
Cimplr co-founder and Chief Executive Officer Arun Poojari said Das brings institutional banking experience and knowledge of the GCC financial ecosystem.
“His leadership will strengthen our ability to build strategic partnerships and expand our technology-led supply chain finance solutions into new markets,” Poojari said.
The appointment places institutional partnerships at the centre of Cimplr’s regional growth plans. Relationships with banks and large corporate buyers could help the company extend its financing solutions to businesses across its target markets.
However, its expansion will depend on developing market-specific offerings and establishing partnerships that support local business requirements.
Das brings experience from ANZ, Emirates NBD and Bank Muscat
Before joining Cimplr, Das spent more than 14 years at ANZ. His most recent role was Head of Banks and Insurance Coverage for the Middle East, where he led the bank’s institutional banking franchise across the region.
He previously served as Regional Head of Global Financial Institutions at Emirates NBD. In that role, he managed an asset book of US$2 billion and more than 450 correspondent banking relationships.
Das has also held leadership positions at Bank Muscat and earlier roles at ICICI Bank and IDBI Bank.
His experience spans financial institutions, diversified financial services businesses, private equity and venture capital funds, and family offices across the GCC.
He has worked across balance sheet structuring, fundraising, debt solutions, trade and shipping finance, structured products, and environmental, social and governance (ESG) strategy.
At Cimplr, Das will focus on translating this experience into regional partnerships and financing solutions as the company expands across the Middle East and APAC.
