Qatar’s Ministry of Labour and Qatar Islamic Bank (QIB) have organised a recruitment day to connect Qatari graduates and jobseekers with employment opportunities in banking.

The initiative supports Qatar’s efforts to increase national participation in private-sector employment. It also aims to build a qualified workforce that meets the country’s changing labour market needs.

The event attracted a large number of Qatari candidates. It forms part of the Ministry’s efforts to implement the Private-Sector Jobs Nationalisation Law and the National Strategy for an Effective and Highly Productive Workforce 2024–2030.

Qatar strengthens private-sector employment opportunities

Qatar’s workforce strategy aims to develop qualified national talent and improve its competitiveness. The government is also working to align education and training with employers’ skills requirements.

Mohammed Jumaa Al Kawwari, Assistant Director of the National Manpower Recruitment Department at the Ministry of Labour, said the initiative reflects the government’s commitment to creating quality jobs for Qatari nationals.

He added that recruitment events help graduates and jobseekers connect directly with employers. They also give candidates a clearer understanding of labour market requirements and career development opportunities.

The Ministry is expanding its engagement with private-sector employers to identify future workforce needs. This effort includes Qatari university students, recent graduates and children of Qatari women.

By strengthening these connections, the Ministry aims to improve the alignment between educational outcomes and the skills employers require.

QIB seeks to develop the next generation of banking talent

QIB’s participation provides the bank with an opportunity to engage directly with Qatari candidates and introduce them to potential career pathways.

Khalefa Al Mesalam, Head of Human Capital Group at QIB, welcomed the strong turnout. He said the partnership allows the bank to connect with national talent and support professional development.

“We remain committed to developing the next generation of banking professionals and supporting the objectives of Qatar National Vision 2030,” Al Mesalam said.

The initiative reflects the role of private-sector employers in developing local talent. For banks, recruitment and professional development programmes can help build a stronger national talent pipeline.

Qatar aligns national hiring with workforce strategy

The recruitment day forms part of Qatar’s wider efforts to increase Qatari representation in private-sector employment.

The National Strategy for an Effective and Highly Productive Workforce 2024–2030 seeks to develop a skilled workforce that responds to labour market demands. Meanwhile, the Private-Sector Jobs Nationalisation Law provides a framework for advancing national employment in private businesses.

However, meeting these objectives requires more than attracting candidates. Employers must also provide suitable working environments and opportunities for employees to develop their capabilities.

The Ministry has highlighted collaboration with private-sector institutions as an important part of this process. Such partnerships can help businesses identify suitable candidates while giving jobseekers better access to employment and career development opportunities.

The initiative also supports Qatar National Vision 2030, which aims to strengthen national capabilities and support the country’s long-term development.

For Qatar’s banking sector, these efforts place national talent development and workforce planning at the centre of private-sector hiring.
