Tadweer Group has appointed Etienne Petit as Chief Executive Officer. The move marks a major step in the organisation’s transformation and long-term growth strategy.

Petit brings more than 30 years of global experience in waste management, energy transition, and environmental services. He spent 26 years at Veolia, where he held senior leadership roles across Europe and international markets. At Tadweer, he will lead key projects, strengthen operations, and support Abu Dhabi’s goal to divert 80% of waste from landfills.

Leadership aligned with UAE sustainability goals

Petit said he is honoured to join Tadweer at a pivotal time. He noted that the group already plays a leading role in circular-economy solutions and resource recovery.

He added that he aims to expand this progress. His focus will include advanced waste technologies, measurable environmental impact, and long-term economic value. These priorities directly support the UAE’s national sustainability agenda.

Proven record in global transformation

Petit has led major restructurings and growth strategies in complex international businesses. For example, he helped transform Veolia Germany into a stronger circular-economy operator. The turnaround improved profitability, efficiency, and recycling performance.

In addition, he managed multinational teams and large municipal partnerships. His work focused on carbon reduction, industrial recycling, and operational optimisation. This experience positions him well for Tadweer’s next phase of expansion.

AI waste solutions drive 2026 momentum

Tadweer has entered 2026 with strong momentum. Recently, the group launched Tajmee’e, an AI-powered waste-collection subsidiary. At the same time, it continues to expand waste-to-energy infrastructure and regional sustainability partnerships.

Backed by ADQ, Tadweer serves as the sole waste-management custodian in Abu Dhabi. The group deploys advanced technology to recover value from waste and reduce landfill dependence.

Expansion plans beyond Abu Dhabi

Tadweer also plans to grow outside the UAE. The company aims to expand sustainable waste management solutions across regional and global markets. Under Petit’s leadership, this strategy is expected to accelerate.
