Dubai Police Academy has appointed Dr Amanda Davies as Professor, strengthening its academic leadership as it looks toward 2026. The move reflects the Academy’s focus on professional education, applied research, and future-ready policing.
The Academy plays a key role in developing law enforcement capability in line with the UAE’s security and governance priorities. Dr Davies’ appointment supports this mandate at a time when policing education continues to evolve alongside technology and evidence-based practice.
Global academic and sector experience
Dr Amanda Davies brings more than 20 years of experience in higher education and policing research across Australia, the UAE, and Singapore. She currently serves as a senior researcher with Charles Sturt University, based at the NSW Police Force Academy.
Her research focuses on policing workforce capability, program evaluation, and the use of technology in training. Ongoing projects include studies on body-worn cameras and long-term retention within police organisations.
She holds a PhD in police education, with a focus on decision-making and simulation-based learning. Her academic leadership roles include Program Chair for Policing and Security at Rabdan Academy in Abu Dhabi and Academic Director at the School of Policing at Charles Sturt University. In these roles, she worked closely with police academies and government stakeholders.
Alignment with institutional priorities
At Dubai Police Academy, Dr Davies will support curriculum development, applied research, and academic capacity-building. Her work will align with the Academy’s emphasis on modern training models and continuous professional development.
The appointment also reflects the Academy’s intent to strengthen international collaboration and research-led education.
