Dubai has opened a new academic medical city in Al Qusais. The campus can train up to 3,000 students. It is also expected to create nearly 1,000 jobs. The project strengthens the emirate’s growing healthcare and medical education sector.
Thumbay Group builds integrated healthcare and education hub
Thumbay Group developed the campus as a single centre for education, treatment and research. It includes a branch of Gulf Medical University, a university hospital, research centres, simulation labs, pharmacies and diagnostic services.
As a result, the site may host around 6,000 people every day. This number includes students, teachers, healthcare staff and visitors.
AI labs and simulation centres to improve clinical training
The education zone offers advanced simulation labs and surgical skills centres. It also uses AI-supported learning tools. Therefore, students can practise in settings linked directly to hospital care. This approach helps connect classroom learning with real patient treatment.
Thumbay University Hospital Dubai to start services in phases
Thumbay University Hospital Dubai will anchor healthcare services at the campus. In the first phase, it will provide renal dialysis, cardiology, orthopaedics and rehabilitation. Later, the hospital plans to expand into a full multi-specialty academic centre.
Project supports Dubai’s long-term healthcare vision
Dr Thumbay Moideen, Founder President of Thumbay Group, said the project reflects a long-term vision. It brings education, healthcare and research together in one place. He added that the campus aligns with Dubai’s broader development goals.
The medical city sits on the Dubai–Sharjah border in Al Qusais. Because of this location, it can serve nearby communities and remain well connected to transport links.
