The initiative supports cooperation in digital government, artificial intelligence and public sector innovation across GCC member states.

GCC Digital Award celebrates government innovation

The regional initiative will recognise outstanding digital government projects that improve public services and encourage innovation across the Gulf region.. Mohammed Ali Al Qaed, Chief Executive of Bahrain’s Information & eGovernment Authority (iGA), said the award creates a regional platform for sharing successful digital initiatives and promoting collaboration among GCC governments.

He added that Bahrain’s hosting of the event, alongside its chairmanship of the GCC Ministerial Committee for Digital Government, reflects the Kingdom’s commitment to strengthening digital government capabilities and advancing high-quality public services across the region.

Bahrain to host GCC Digital Government award 2026

As part of Bahrain to host GCC Digital Government Award 2026, nominations will open from 19 July to 3 September 2026. During this period, government entities across GCC member states can submit their entries through their respective digital government authorities. The award features nine categories that recognise excellence in digital transformation. These include Best Digital Government Service, Best Use of Artificial Intelligence, Best Open Data Initiative, and Best Integrated Government Application. Through these categories, the programme encourages government institutions to develop innovative digital solutions. At the same time, it promotes better efficiency, stronger collaboration and improved public service delivery across GCC member states.

Award promotes AI and digital collaboration

The GCC Digital Award highlights projects that apply advanced technologies to government services. Artificial intelligence, integrated digital platforms and open data remain central themes across the award categories, reflecting the growing role of technology in public administration.

The initiative also encourages GCC governments to exchange knowledge and adopt successful digital practices. Through regional cooperation, participating institutions can strengthen innovation while improving digital services for citizens and residents.

Bahrain strengthens regional digital leadership

The GCC Digital Government Award was established in 2009 to recognise excellence in digital government across the Gulf region. Since then, it has provided a platform for honouring innovative public sector projects and encouraging continuous improvement in government services.

This year’s event will bring together government entities from across the GCC to showcase successful initiatives, exchange expertise and promote collaboration in digital transformation. Bahrain’s role as host reflects its continued contribution to regional digital government efforts while supporting innovation and the wider adoption of advanced technologies throughout the GCC.
