The UAE Ministry of Education (MoE) has launched NOVA, a strategic artificial intelligence (AI) initiative designed to accelerate digital transformation across the education sector and strengthen government innovation.

Aligned with the UAE’s National AI Strategy and broader digital transformation agenda, the project aims to build smarter institutions by using advanced data analytics and AI-driven insights. The ministry expects NOVA to improve decision-making, enhance operational efficiency, and deliver better educational outcomes for students, teachers, schools, and parents.

NOVA to strengthen AI-driven governance

The NOVA project marks a significant step in the Ministry of Education’s long-term strategy to modernize institutional operations through artificial intelligence.

By converting large volumes of data into actionable insights, the initiative will help government leaders make faster and more informed decisions. It also seeks to create an integrated institutional ecosystem that supports efficient public services and future-ready governance.

Furthermore, NOVA is expected to improve collaboration across the education sector by establishing unified digital workflows supported by intelligent systems and reliable data.

Sarah Al Amiri: AI is central to the future of education

Sarah Al Amiri, UAE Minister of Education, said the NOVA project reflects the country’s leadership vision of embedding artificial intelligence into government operations.

According to Al Amiri, the initiative represents a new phase of government innovation focused on redesigning institutional processes rather than simply digitising existing systems.

She noted that education is evolving rapidly across the world. Therefore, governments must develop smarter, more flexible, and proactive education systems that can respond to changing student, educator, and societal needs.

She also emphasised that AI-powered digital transformation has become both a national priority and an institutional necessity. NOVA, she added, supports a more agile operating model while strengthening national capabilities for responsible AI adoption.

Ministry aims to build transparent and connected education systems

Mohammed Al Qasim, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education, said NOVA builds on the ministry’s investments in digital transformation, artificial intelligence, workforce capability development, and data infrastructure.

He explained that the project will unify institutional workflows across the ministry and the wider education ecosystem. As a result, government entities will operate within a more transparent environment supported by intelligent digital services and trusted data.

Additionally, NOVA supports the UAE’s vision of creating a technology-driven education system that prepares future generations with skills needed for an AI-powered economy while enhancing the country’s global competitiveness.

Supporting the UAE’s broader AI ambitions

The launch of NOVA reinforces the UAE’s wider strategy of integrating artificial intelligence into government services and public institutions.

Over the past several years, the country has introduced multiple AI-led initiatives under the UAE Strategy for Artificial Intelligence 2031 to improve public sector efficiency, encourage innovation, and diversify the economy.

Education remains one of the government’s highest priorities in this transformation. The Ministry of Education continues to expand AI-enabled learning platforms, digital services, and data-driven decision-making tools to improve learning experiences and simplify administration.

Moreover, the ministry has introduced programmes that equip students with future-ready skills in artificial intelligence, coding, robotics, and emerging technologies.

With NOVA, the UAE further strengthens its commitment to responsible AI adoption, institutional innovation, and talent development, reinforcing its ambition to remain among the world’s leading digital governments.
