Rabigh Refining and Petrochemical Company, known as Petro Rabigh, has appointed Hassan bin Hamad Al Yami as its new President and Chief Executive Officer in Saudi Arabia.
Hassan Al Yami will assume the role on 1 September 2026. The appointment follows the resignation of Othman bin Ali Al Ghamdi from the position.
Petro Rabigh said Othman Al Ghamdi resigned due to personal circumstances. His resignation will take effect on 31 August 2026.
Othman Al Ghamdi will continue to serve as a member of Petro Rabigh’s Board of Directors.
The company’s Board of Directors accepted Othman Al Ghamdi’s resignation and approved Hassan Al Yami’s appointment during a meeting held on 23 August 2026.
Hassan Al Yami brings more than 30 years of industry experience
Hassan Al Yami brings more than three decades of leadership experience in the refining and petrochemical industry.
Before joining Petro Rabigh as President and Chief Executive Officer, Hassan Al Yami served as Vice President of Saudi Aramco’s Ras Tanura Refinery.
His career has also included several senior executive positions at Saudi Aramco subsidiaries in Saudi Arabia and international markets.
According to the company, Hassan Al Yami has led large scale refining and petrochemical operations. His experience also includes major capital projects and corporate transformation initiatives.
Petro Rabigh completes planned CEO transition
The appointment establishes a clear leadership transition at Petro Rabigh, with Hassan Al Yami taking office immediately after Othman Al Ghamdi’s resignation becomes effective.
Othman Al Ghamdi will leave the President and Chief Executive Officer role on 31 August 2026. Hassan Al Yami will take over the position the following day.
The Board of Directors also expressed its appreciation to Othman Al Ghamdi for his contributions and leadership during transitional periods in Petro Rabigh’s history.
The leadership change comes as Saudi Arabia’s energy and petrochemical sector continues to undergo transformation. Companies across the sector are placing greater emphasis on operational efficiency, large scale investment and business transformation.
For Petro Rabigh, the appointment brings an executive with experience across refining, petrochemicals, capital projects and corporate transformation into the company’s top leadership role.
Leadership experience in refining and petrochemicals
Hassan Al Yami’s appointment follows a career spanning more than 30 years in the refining and petrochemical industry.
His previous role as Vice President of Saudi Aramco’s Ras Tanura Refinery forms part of a wider leadership career that has included senior positions in Saudi Arabia and international markets.
Petro Rabigh’s Board of Directors approved the appointment on 23 August 2026. Hassan Al Yami will officially begin his tenure as President and Chief Executive Officer on 1 September 2026.
