Omantel has appointed Mohamed Mohsin AlAbdullatif as Vice President, Consumer Unit, where he will lead the company’s consumer business across mobility, broadband and digital services in Oman. He assumes the role after serving as Acting Vice President, bringing nearly three decades of experience in telecommunications, banking, FMCG and retail.
Mohamed Mohsin AlAbdullatif’s Omantel journey
AlAbdullatif has spent more than 13 years at Omantel, progressing through several senior leadership positions before being appointed Vice President, Consumer Unit. During this time, he has held roles including General Manager, Consumer Sales, General Manager, Commercial Planning and General Manager, Customer Lifecycle Management before serving as Acting Vice President.
As General Manager, Consumer Sales, he led nationwide consumer sales strategy across direct and indirect channels, managed commercial campaigns and supported high value customer relationships. Later, as General Manager, Commercial Planning, he established the company’s data analytics unit, built strategic alliances with hyperscaler partners and contributed to AI, machine learning and generative AI strategies.
In his subsequent role leading Customer Lifecycle Management, he developed customer lifecycle strategies designed to increase customer lifetime value, introduced segmentation models for personalised engagement and helped create the country’s largest customer loyalty programme. These experiences provided the foundation for his transition into executive leadership within Omantel’s consumer business.
Omantel consumer unit leadership responsibilities
As Vice President, Consumer Unit, AlAbdullatif will oversee Omantel’s consumer business strategy across mobility, broadband and digital services. His responsibilities include supporting commercial growth, customer experience, AI led innovation and digital transformation initiatives throughout Oman.
The appointment places him at the centre of Omantel’s consumer operations, combining responsibility for commercial strategy, digital services and customer engagement under one executive leadership role. The position also continues the work he previously led while serving as Acting Vice President, ensuring continuity across the company’s consumer business.
For HR and business leaders, the appointment reflects the growing importance of executives who combine commercial expertise with technology leadership. Consumer businesses increasingly require leaders who understand customer behaviour, digital innovation and data driven decision making while managing large commercial portfolios.
Telecom and commercial leadership experience
Before assuming the permanent Vice President position, AlAbdullatif built a career spanning multiple sectors including telecommunications, banking, FMCG and retail.
Earlier in his career, he served as General Manager, Direct Sales at channels by stc, where he redesigned the direct sales organisation, strengthened distributor networks, digitised airtime recharge systems and established new retail hubs. Before that, he spent more than six years at Ooredoo Oman, serving as Sales Director and Department Head, Indirect Sales, where he led consumer sales operations, channel partnerships and market expansion initiatives.
His professional experience also includes leadership positions at Philip Morris International and HSBC. At Philip Morris International, he managed merchandising and promotional activities across GCC markets, while at HSBC he worked as a Relationship Manager overseeing corporate banking relationships and risk management processes.
Alongside his executive responsibilities, AlAbdullatif also serves as Chairperson of Infoline, a position he assumed in March 2026.
Commercial strategy and customer focus
AlAbdullatif’s career has centred on commercial planning, customer lifecycle management, sales leadership and digital transformation. Across his roles, he has led initiatives involving AI and machine learning, customer analytics, loyalty programmes and commercial planning, supporting business performance and customer engagement.
His appointment as Vice President, Consumer Unit brings together years of leadership experience within Omantel and the wider telecommunications industry. As the company continues to develop its consumer services portfolio, he will oversee commercial strategy, customer experience and digital initiatives across mobility, broadband and digital services throughout Oman.
With experience built across multiple leadership positions and a long tenure within Omantel, Mohamed Mohsin AlAbdullatif now assumes permanent responsibility for one of the company’s largest business units, leading its consumer organisation as it continues serving customers across the Sultanate.
