According to Times of Oman, in its July 2026 report, the Oman startup ecosystem received fresh support as the SMEs Development Authority (Riyada) launched the “Riyada Deal” initiative in North Al Sharqiyah to connect startups with investors, strengthen entrepreneurial skills, improve investment readiness, and support employment creation under Oman Vision 2040.
Oman Startup Ecosystem 2026 gains investment platform
The Riyada branch in North Al Sharqiyah brought together startups from different economic and commercial sectors through the new initiative. The event created a direct platform where entrepreneurs and innovators presented their projects to potential investors and business partners.
Participants also strengthened their presentation and persuasion skills through direct engagement with decision-makers. As a result, they gained practical experience that can improve their readiness for future investment opportunities and business growth.
The programme forms part of the Authority’s broader efforts to strengthen the Oman startup ecosystem across different governorates.
Entrepreneurs present ideas to investors
The event focused on connecting promising businesses with funding opportunities while assessing the investment readiness of participating startups. Organisers designed the initiative to help transform innovative ideas into sustainable businesses that contribute to economic diversification and employment.
The programme also featured the success story of a startup that had already secured investment support. In addition, seven startups presented their business ideas to investors with the goal of expanding their operations and attracting new funding.
These activities continue to strengthen the Oman startup environment by encouraging entrepreneurship and improving access to investment networks.
Government supports Oman Startup Innovation
Specialists and representatives from the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion attended the event alongside members of the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI). Their participation highlighted continued cooperation between public institutions and the private sector in supporting entrepreneurship.
The event also encouraged dialogue between startups, investors, and business stakeholders, creating opportunities for future collaboration. These connections help entrepreneurs better understand market expectations while preparing projects for long-term growth.
Initiative supports economic diversification
Riyada’s strategy focuses on building a stronger entrepreneurship ecosystem by linking startups with investment opportunities across Oman. The approach also supports the development of productive businesses that contribute to employment creation and economic diversification.
Through initiatives such as Riyada Deal, the Oman startup ecosystem continues to expand opportunities for entrepreneurs while improving investment readiness and strengthening collaboration between government institutions, investors, and the private sector. The programme also supports Oman startup ecosystem 2026 objectives by encouraging innovation, sustainable business growth, and wider participation in the national economy.
