Oman economic development received a new push as North Al Batinah Governorate launched its promotional identity and Strategic Plan 2026-2030 during a ceremony in Sohar on July 6. The initiative aims to strengthen investment, improve public services, and support sustainable development in line with Oman Vision 2040.

The new strategy also focuses on enhancing institutional performance, promoting regional competitiveness, and creating a long-term roadmap that builds on the governorate’s economic, industrial, tourism, and logistics strengths.

North Al Batinah plan supports Oman economic development

The governorate introduced its new promotional identity and five-year strategic plan under the patronage of Minister of Heritage and Tourism Ibrahim bin Saeed Al Busaidi. Government officials and representatives from the private sector attended the launch in Sohar.

Governor Mohammed bin Sulaiman Al-Kindi said North Al Batinah continues to strengthen its role in Oman economic development through its strategic location, ports, industrial and logistics zones, tourism assets, agricultural resources, and marine sectors. He added that these advantages continue to support the national economy and contribute to gross domestic product.

The governorate prepared the strategic plan using a participatory methodology that studied current conditions, identified future opportunities, and established priorities for the 2026-2030 period.

Promotional Identity highlights investment potential

The new identity reflects the governorate’s economic, industrial, tourism, historical, cultural, and humanitarian strengths. Officials said it presents North Al Batinah through a unified visual identity that highlights its competitive advantages and supports investment promotion.

Eng. Mohammed bin Qassim Al Shezawi, Head of the Investment Development Department and spokesperson for the governorate, said the identity was designed to reflect the governorate’s location, character, and long-term vision. He explained that it creates a consistent visual representation that showcases North Al Batinah across investment, tourism, and development initiatives.

The identity includes six visual elements representing the governorate’s six wilayats. Its gate-inspired design symbolises North Al Batinah as a gateway connecting the East and the West, while the ascending lines reflect the governorate’s aspirations for continued growth, development, and stronger investment attractiveness.

Oman Economic Development prioritises growth

Eng. Manal bint Sulaiman Al-Ajmia, Head of the Planning and Statistics Department, said the Oman economic development strategy provides a roadmap for the next five years. The plan focuses on improving institutional performance, enhancing local services, and supporting sustainable quality of life across the governorate.

She added that the strategy aligns with Oman Vision 2040, the Eleventh Five-Year Development Plan (2026-2030), and national priorities for sustainable governorates and cities. It also seeks to strengthen coordination among government institutions, improve planning processes, and support effective implementation of development initiatives.

The strategy also focuses on creating a more competitive investment environment through better government services, digital transformation, and stronger institutional performance. It encourages community partnerships, supports qualified human capital, and promotes data-driven decision-making to advance Oman economic development across North Al Batinah.

Plan supports investment and digital transformation

The strategy sets out several objectives that support Oman economic development, including attracting investment, expanding promising sectors, strengthening partnerships with the private sector, and developing infrastructure. It also focuses on improving government services, promoting digital transformation and governance, and enhancing institutional excellence across the governorate.

The plan places equal emphasis on building qualified human capital and strengthening community partnerships. Officials said these priorities will help improve institutional performance while supporting better planning, service delivery, and coordination among government entities.

According to officials, the strategy aims to position North Al Batinah as a destination for a sustainable economy and an improved quality of life. It also promotes innovation, competitiveness, and data-driven decision-making, keeping Oman economic development at the centre of the governorate’s long-term development priorities.
