Oman GCC Economy meeting focuses on common market plans

The Oman Ministry of Economy joined the 9th preparatory committee session of the GCC Economic and Development Affairs Authority on 14 May 2026 in Muscat through videoconferencing. The Oman GCC economy meeting focused on regional integration projects, economic cooperation plans, and sustainable development goals across GCC states.

Dr. Khamis bin Saif Al Jabri, Minister of Economy, represented Oman during the ministerial-level discussions. Officials reviewed outcomes linked to the 19th consultative meeting of GCC leaders. They also examined mechanisms that support economic coordination between member states.

The committee discussed strategic regional projects that include the GCC Customs Union, GCC Common Market, and GCC railway network. At the same time, delegates addressed policies designed to improve trade connectivity and economic alignment across the Gulf region.

GCC Customs union and Railway plans reviewed

The Oman GCC economy meeting also highlighted infrastructure and trade initiatives that GCC states continue to develop jointly. Officials stressed the importance of accelerating integration efforts through coordinated economic systems and shared regional policies.

The GCC railway project remained one of the key topics during the discussions. The railway network aims to improve transportation links between member states while supporting trade and logistics activities across the Gulf region. The GCC Common Market framework also remained under review as officials discussed economic mobility and regional cooperation.

During the Oman GCC economy meeting, participants called for continued collaboration between GCC states to support sustainable prosperity and long-term economic development. They also discussed solutions aimed at strengthening regional coordination in response to global economic developments.

According to Oman News Agency (ONA), the meeting concluded with member states reaffirming support for joint GCC economic action and integration projects.
