Al-Futtaim Group has appointed Jorge Navea Atorrasagasti as President of its Automotive Division. The move strengthens the group’s leadership at a time of rapid change in the global automotive industry.

The appointment supports Al-Futtaim’s 2026 strategy. In particular, the group is focused on faster growth, market expansion, stronger customer engagement, and closer integration across its businesses.

Veteran Automotive Leader with Global Experience

Navea brings more than 30 years of experience in the global automotive sector. His background spans OEMs, distribution networks, and mobility services across several regions.

Most recently, he served as Chief Executive Officer of Astara. During his tenure, he led the company’s shift into a technology-led global mobility group. As a result, Astara expanded across both mature and high-growth markets. It also moved beyond traditional automotive distribution into digital and mobility services.

Earlier in his career, Navea held senior roles at major automotive companies in Europe. Through these roles, he gained deep experience in sales, marketing, and dealer network development across complex markets.

Focus on Transformation and Scalable Growth

According to Al-Futtaim, the appointment supports plans to scale the Automotive Division across regions. At the same time, it reflects the group’s response to changing consumer behaviour, electrification, digital retail, and mobility-driven models.

Moreover, Navea is known as a people-first and values-led leader. He has built high-performing teams and strong organisational cultures throughout his career. In addition, his experience includes organic growth, partnerships, acquisitions, and the launch of new automotive ventures.

Strengthening Leadership Amid Industry Disruption

The automotive industry is facing major disruption. Key drivers include electrification, software-led vehicles, digital customer journeys, and new ownership models.

Against this backdrop, Al-Futtaim believes Navea’s global outlook and transformation experience will help sustain momentum. The group also expects his leadership to support long-term value creation across its automotive operations.
