Prince Sattam bin Abdulaziz University has signed a memorandum of understanding with Huawei to strengthen technical skills among university staff and prepare Saudi talent for the changing technology job market.

The partnership will support training and digital transformation at the university. It will also bring Huawei’s industry expertise into the university’s education and training programmes.

Huawei partnership to focus on AI and cloud skills

Under the agreement, the university and Huawei will develop specialised technical training based on the university’s needs.

The programmes will cover cloud computing, big data, artificial intelligence and data communications networks. These areas are becoming increasingly important as businesses across Saudi Arabia expand their use of digital technologies.

The initiative aims to help university staff build relevant technical skills. It will also support students as they prepare for careers in the technology sector.

The agreement was signed at the Riyadh Exhibition and Convention Center during the LEAP conference.

Partnership supports Saudi talent development

Mashael Al-Baidani, dean of educational services at Prince Sattam bin Abdulaziz University, said the partnership would create new opportunities for students and faculty.

“Our partnership with Huawei brings industry expertise closer to the university and expands access to specialised training in artificial intelligence, cloud computing and big data.”

Al-Baidani said the university wants to give students and faculty the skills needed for the future of work.

The university will work with its College of Computer Engineering and Sciences as part of the collaboration. Together, they will support training in emerging technologies and strengthen links between education and industry.

Skills development aligns with Saudi Vision 2030

The partnership also supports Saudi Arabia’s wider push to develop national talent and expand the digital economy.

According to the university, the collaboration will help prepare qualified talent for opportunities in the technology sector. It will also support efforts to build an education model focused on innovation and emerging technologies.

Al-Baidani said working with a global technology company would help the university develop talent that can compete in both local and international markets.

The agreement therefore links higher education, industry expertise and digital skills development. As Saudi Arabia continues its economic diversification drive, such partnerships can help universities respond to changing workforce needs.
