Bahrain Bourse has appointed Marwa Al Maskati as Chief Strategy Officer (CSO), placing her in charge of the exchange’s Business Development organisational area. The appointment follows the approval of enhancements to Bahrain Bourse’s organisational structure as the exchange advances its long term strategic priorities and capital market development plans.
In her new role, Al Maskati will lead the execution of Bahrain Bourse’s strategic agenda. Her responsibilities include driving corporate innovation, promoting sustainable growth, supporting market development and strengthening engagement with stakeholders. She will also oversee initiatives linked to the Capital Market Development Plan 2026-2028, known as “Ertiqa”, which aims to support the exchange’s long term vision and strategic objectives.
Capital markets experience and strategic leadership
Al Maskati brings extensive experience in capital markets, business development and corporate strategy to her new position. According to her professional profile, she currently serves as Senior Director of Partnership Development, Sustainability and Communications at Bahrain Bourse, where she leads the exchange’s business development agenda across market data, ESG integration and strategic expansion initiatives.
Her work has focused on strengthening Bahrain Bourse’s market position while supporting sustainable value creation across the financial services sector. The profile also highlights her experience in strategic partnerships, investor relations and business development, reflecting a broad leadership background across capital markets.
Before becoming Senior Director, Al Maskati held several leadership positions within Bahrain Bourse. These included Director of Marketing and Business Development, Assistant Director of Business Development and Marketing, and Head of Business Development. Through these roles, she contributed to the exchange’s commercial and strategic initiatives while supporting market growth and stakeholder engagement.

Professional background supports new leadership role
Prior to joining Bahrain Bourse, Al Maskati worked at TAIB Bank as Assistant Vice President of Investments, where she managed investment portfolios, evaluated business opportunities and worked on asset management activities across international markets. She also serves as a Board Member of the Middle East Investor Relations Association, reflecting her continued involvement in the regional financial services sector.
Al Maskati holds an MBA from the University of Strathclyde and a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and Business Management from Swansea University. She also completed the Oxford Executive Leadership Programme and holds certifications in investor relations, sustainable bonds, corporate governance and strategic leadership.
Her appointment strengthens Bahrain Bourse’s executive leadership team as the exchange continues its focus on innovation, business development and the long term advancement of Bahrain’s capital markets.
