Bahrain recorded a 99.98% compliance rate with its summer midday work ban in 2026, Labour and Legal Affairs Minister Yousif bin Abdulhussain Khalaf said on September 14. The result followed inspections conducted across workplaces during the restriction period.

The Ministry of Labour completed 30,246 inspection visits between June 15 and August 31. Officials found six establishments that failed to follow the Bahrain Work Ban.

Summer restrictions covered outdoor work

Decision No. (5) of 2026 prohibited work in open areas under direct sunlight from 12pm to 4pm. The restriction applied during Bahrain’s summer months.

The Bahrain Summer Midday Work Ban 2026 compliance rate reflected adherence to the scheduled working-hour limits. Employers had to organise outdoor activities around the restricted period.

The measure focused on workplace protection during periods of summer heat. It also supported the enforcement of labour rules covering outdoor work conditions.

Bahrain work ban finds limited violations

The six establishments involved 17 workers who were found working during the prohibited hours. The Ministry referred the cases to the competent judicial authorities for the required legal action.

The inspection programme provided enforcement data for the full restriction period. It also allowed officials to identify workplaces that required legal follow-up under the decision.

The high compliance level showed that most establishments followed the Work Ban. The inspections also formed part of the ministry’s wider workplace safety activities.

Bahrain maintains focus on worker protection

Minister Khalaf said Bahrain would continue developing measures to protect workers’ health and safety. He also highlighted preventive procedures, workplace policies and relevant legislation.

The Ministry of Labour will continue its inspection and awareness efforts. These activities aim to strengthen occupational health and safety practices in line with sustainable development goals and international labour standards.

The Bahrain Work Ban remains part of the country’s approach to protecting outdoor workers during the summer period. The ministry’s enforcement and awareness work will continue to support workplace safety.
