According to the Oman News Agency (ONA), the Ministry of Labour launched the Oman Seasonal Work Platform during the third edition of Labour Forum 2026 in Dhofar on August. The initiative aims to connect job seekers with seasonal opportunities while improving labour market flexibility and employment services.
Oman Seasonal Work Platform connects employers and job seekers
The Ministry introduced the platform during a ceremony held under the patronage of Dr. Mahad Said Ba’owain, Minister of Labour. Officials, government representatives and private sector partners attended the event.
The Oman Seasonal Work Platform regulates employment linked to seasonal activities and events. It also connects employers with job seekers through a structured digital system designed to improve labour market management.
The platform supports employment services by using modern technology to match opportunities with labour market needs.
Oman Seasonal Work Platform for jobs supports youth employment
The project forms part of the Seasonal Work Centre initiative, which supports labour market reforms under Oman Vision 2040.
The project establishes an institutional framework to manage seasonal and event-related employment while encouraging greater participation from national talent, particularly young people. It also helps regulate rights and responsibilities between employers and seasonal workers.
Tourism, entertainment and event-related sectors are expected to benefit from the organised employment framework and improved service quality.
Project strengthens labour market services
The Seasonal Work Centre also collects labour market data to identify seasonal employment needs and available opportunities. The project supports training and qualification programmes that help young people build skills required by employers.
These measures aim to balance labour market demand with the development of national competencies while improving employment services across seasonal industries.
Ministry honours labour sector partners
Alongside the launch, the Ministry recognised strategic partners, trade unions, distinguished establishments and pioneering figures for their contributions to labour market development and human resources.
The recognition highlighted cooperation between government entities, the private sector and labour organisations in supporting initiatives that improve labour market efficiency across the Sultanate.
