The UAE Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) resolved 98.6% of labour disputes amicably during the first half of 2026. The ministry settled 185,793 cases without court intervention, highlighting the growing effectiveness of the country’s labour dispute resolution framework.
According to figures released by MoHRE on August 5, only 2,481 disputes, or 1.4% of the total cases, were referred to the courts during the six-month period.
The ministry said the results reflect continuous improvements to its labour dispute resolution system. These measures aim to speed up settlements while ensuring both employers and employees can access their legal rights more efficiently.
New dispute resolution powers speed up claims
A major reform has strengthened MoHRE’s ability to resolve workplace conflicts faster. The ministry now has the authority to adjudicate labour disputes involving claims of up to AED50,000.
As a result, eligible cases can be settled more quickly without entering lengthy court proceedings. The measure also reduces pressure on the judicial system while helping employees receive their dues sooner.
Wage Protection System helps prevent disputes
MoHRE also credited improvements in the Wage Protection System (WPS) for reducing workplace disputes.
The upgraded system identifies delayed salary payments and other compliance violations at an early stage. Consequently, employers can address issues before they develop into formal labour complaints.
In addition, the Wage Protection System is integrated with the ministry’s wider digital and regulatory platforms. This integration strengthens compliance monitoring and supports faster, data-driven enforcement across the UAE labour market.
MoHRE focuses on prevention as well as resolution
The ministry said its strategy goes beyond resolving complaints after they arise. Instead, it focuses on preventing disputes through proactive monitoring, digital systems and stronger employer compliance.
Furthermore, employees and employers can file labour complaints or seek employment advice through MoHRE’s Labour Claims and Advisory Call Centre (80084), its official website and the smart application.
MoHRE: Integrated approach improves dispute resolution
Commenting on the latest figures, Ahmed Al Qara, Director of the Labour Relations Department at MoHRE, said the ministry continues to strengthen its labour dispute resolution framework.
“The ministry continues to enhance the efficiency of its labour dispute resolution system through an integrated approach based on proactive solutions and effective resolution mechanisms that protect the rights of all parties to the employment relationship.”
He added that MoHRE remains committed to resolving complaints within prescribed timelines while prioritising amicable settlements through enhanced complaint-handling processes supported by specialised legal professionals.
