The Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship, Customs and Port Security will introduce an artificial intelligence and robotics-driven system to screen work permit applicants starting May. The move, reported by Khaleej Times, forms part of the UAE’s broader strategy to modernise labour market processes and attract high-quality talent.

The initiative, developed in partnership with the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation, aims to improve hiring efficiency while aligning workforce capabilities with evolving economic needs.

AI-Based Screening to Assess Skills and Experience

The new platform will evaluate applicants using data-driven tools. It will analyse key parameters such as skills, education, professional experience and domain knowledge. As a result, authorities expect more accurate and consistent hiring decisions.

Officials say the system introduces objective evaluation methods. These methods will reduce human bias and improve transparency. Moreover, the platform will help employers identify suitable candidates faster.

At the same time, the system supports the UAE’s transition towards a knowledge-based economy. By prioritising skilled professionals, the government aims to enhance productivity across sectors.

Part of Wider AI-Led Government Transformation

The rollout aligns with the UAE’s larger push to integrate artificial intelligence into public services. Under this framework, the government plans to convert 50% of its operations into AI-driven systems within the next two years.

In addition, these systems will not only automate routine processes but also analyse complex datasets, generate recommendations and manage workflows with minimal human input. Therefore, authorities expect faster service delivery and improved operational efficiency.

A dedicated taskforce will oversee implementation. It will also monitor performance across government entities to ensure smooth adoption.

Strengthening UAE’s Position as Global Talent Hub

The AI-powered screening system reflects ongoing efforts to optimise labour market dynamics. It will help match talent with industry requirements more effectively. Consequently, businesses can access skilled professionals with greater ease.

Furthermore, the initiative aims to reduce recruitment costs and administrative delays. This efficiency boost will strengthen the UAE’s appeal as a global destination for talent.

Overall, the move reinforces the country’s ambition to lead in digital governance while building a competitive, future-ready workforce.
