The latest Porter layoffs have impacted nearly 300 to 350 employees. The Bengaluru-based logistics startup confirmed the development on Tuesday, calling it a “one-time restructuring” to enhance efficiency and financial resilience.

In a statement, Porter said the move was a difficult yet necessary step toward building “a stronger and more agile organisation.” The company added that every decision was taken after “careful consideration” as it prepared for the next phase of growth.

Streamlining operations before public listing

The Porter layoffs come at a critical time. The company is reportedly gearing up for a potential public listing while aiming to streamline its operations. According to sources, the restructuring focuses on cost control, removing overlapping roles, and driving long-term profitability.

The company’s expansion into courier and enterprise logistics has widened its scope. However, management is now concentrating on improving margins within its core on-demand trucking segment, the heart of its business.

Funding rounds and financial growth

In recent months, Porter has attracted strong investor interest. It raised $200 million in May 2025, led by Kedaara Capital and Wellington Management, pushing its valuation to $1.2 billion. Another $100-110 million round is reportedly in the works, which would raise its total funding to over $300 million.

Despite the Porter layoffs, the firm’s FY25 results showed solid growth. Operating revenue jumped 57% to ₹4,306 crore, and it recorded a net profit of ₹55 crore, its first-ever profitable year. The company credited this success to higher order volumes, strong demand across metro cities, and improved operational efficiency.

Founded with a mission to simplify logistics

Founded in 2014 by Pranav Goel, Uttam Digga, and Vikas Choudhary, Porter began as a mini-truck booking platform for intra-city logistics. Today, it operates across major Indian cities, serving both individuals and enterprises.

As the Porter layoffs unfold, the company insists this move is a step toward a leaner, more focused future, one built on financial strength and operational discipline.
