The UAE has taken a major step toward integrating artificial intelligence into public administration by launching a 90-day agentic AI implementation sprint across 50 federal government entities.
The initiative began with a workshop in Dubai attended by more than 300 government officials. The Ministry of Cabinet Affairs organised the event. It marked the start of the execution phase of the UAE’s agentic AI transformation programme.
The programme aims to transform 50% of government sectors, services, and operational processes within two years. It follows directives from President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The initiative also supports the country’s goal of becoming a global leader in government innovation.
Federal Entities Have 90 Days to Launch AI Services
Each participating entity must identify, design, and begin implementing at least one agentic AI-powered service within 90 days.
The roadmap includes three phases. First, agencies will select a suitable service or operation. Next, they will design the future service journey. Finally, they will prepare implementation plans and define technical requirements.
This approach pushes agencies to move quickly from planning to execution. As a result, AI adoption can accelerate across the federal government.
UAE Identifies 10 Priority Areas for AI Adoption
The government has identified ten operational areas for early deployment.
These include human resources, procurement, financial affairs, legislative affairs, internal audit, digital transformation, technical support, communications, facilities management, and shared services.
Officials selected these functions because they handle high transaction volumes and serve large groups of users. In addition, many already have structured processes and digital systems in place.
Selection Criteria Focus on Readiness and Impact
Federal entities will assess services using clear selection criteria.
They will examine transaction volumes, beneficiary numbers, operational complexity, and readiness for transformation. Agencies must also review data quality, process documentation, and existing automation levels.
The government will prioritise projects that improve service quality and customer satisfaction. Cost savings and efficiency gains will also play an important role.
Government Creates Monitoring Framework
The UAE has established a monitoring framework to oversee implementation throughout the 90-day sprint.
Government teams will provide technical support and track progress regularly. They will work closely with agencies to help them meet deadlines and launch selected AI services.
The framework also aims to maintain momentum across all 50 entities. At the same time, it encourages collaboration and knowledge sharing.
Programme Targets Benefits for Citizens and Businesses
The initiative focuses on delivering measurable value to both residents and businesses.
Government entities must prioritise services where agentic AI can create the biggest impact. The goal is to improve service quality, reduce waiting times, and automate routine tasks.
As a result, citizens and businesses should experience faster and more efficient government services.
UAE Pushes Ahead With Government AI Strategy
The latest rollout builds on the UAE’s landmark announcement in April 2026. At that time, the government unveiled what it described as the world’s first framework for deploying agentic AI across half of government sectors and services.
Under the strategy, AI systems will monitor changes, manage workflows, execute decisions, and suggest improvements in real time.
To drive implementation, the government created a dedicated task force. His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan oversees the initiative. Minister of Cabinet Affairs His Excellency Mohammad Abdullah Al Gergawi chairs the task force.
Ministers, directors-general, and agency leaders will also be assessed on their ability to adopt agentic AI. This accountability model reflects the government’s focus on execution and measurable results.
With the launch of the 90-day sprint, the UAE has moved into the implementation stage of one of the world’s most ambitious government AI programmes. The initiative could set a new benchmark for public sector innovation and digital transformation.
