Commenting on his appointment, Al Hammad said: “I look forward to working with our leadership team and colleagues to strengthen organisational capability, develop our people, and contribute to the company’s continued success.”

He also thanked the organisation for its confidence in him. Al Hammad acknowledged the HR team for its commitment, professionalism and dedication.

Al Hammad joined Principal Buyer in January 2024 as HR – Center of Excellence Director. Before his promotion, he worked across several areas of HR strategy and organisational development.

His previous responsibilities included organisation design, workforce planning, total rewards, talent management and coaching.

His promotion therefore builds on his existing experience within the company. It also expands his role from leading specific HR functions to overseeing the wider HR agenda.

Previous experience spans organisation development and rewards

Before joining Principal Buyer, Al Hammad spent more than two years at THIQAH. There, he held senior positions in organisation development and rewards.

His work included workforce planning, organisational restructuring, job evaluation, compensation and benefits. He also worked on succession planning and long-term incentive programmes.

Earlier, he served as Head of Rewards & Organisation Design in the government sector.

Al Hammad also spent nearly five years at stc. During this period, he progressed through roles in organisation development and organisation design.

He began his career in compensation and benefits at King Saud University Medical City.

Al Hammad holds HR and leadership qualifications

He also completed the Program for Management Development at IESE Business School in February 2026. In addition, he holds a Leadership Foundations certification from Management Center Europe.

His career has covered several core areas of people management. These include rewards, workforce planning, organisation design and leadership development.

Strategic HR gains importance in Saudi Arabia

The appointment comes as organisations across Saudi Arabia place greater focus on workforce planning and organisational capability.

As companies expand and transform their operations, HR leaders are taking on a broader strategic role. They are increasingly involved in talent planning, leadership pipelines, organisational design and culture.

Against this backdrop, Al Hammad’s expanded mandate places HR at the centre of Principal Buyer’s organisational growth and capability-building efforts.
