Rixos Hotels has appointed hospitality veteran Sherif Kasseb as Managing Director of Rixos Premium Qetaifan Island North in Qatar.
In his new role, Kasseb will oversee three key operations at the Lusail destination: Rixos Premium Qetaifan Island North, Meryal Waterpark and Azure Beach Doha.
The appointment brings more than 30 years of international hospitality experience to the role. Kasseb has held several senior positions across the Rixos portfolio and other global hotel brands.
Most recently, he served as the leader of Rixos Al Mairid Ras Al Khaimah. Earlier, he held senior roles at Rixos Sharm El Sheikh, Rixos Premium Seagate Sharm El Sheikh and Rixos Gulf Hotel Doha.
Kasseb brings experience across Middle East
Kasseb also has a strong connection with Qatar. He previously played a role in launching the country’s first all-inclusive resort.
Before joining Rixos Hotels, he held leadership positions with Marriott International. His previous roles included positions at Sheraton Grand Hotel Dubai and Sheraton Doha Resort & Convention Hotel.
His new mandate will focus on commercial growth, guest experience and team development. He will also oversee the three businesses under one strategic direction.
Commenting on his appointment, Kasseb said:
“I am honoured to return to Qatar and take on the leadership of such a unique destination.”
He added that the destination brings together luxury, entertainment and hospitality experiences. He also said he would work with the teams to improve guest experiences and build on the existing foundation.
Rixos expands integrated leisure destination
Rixos Premium Qetaifan Island North forms part of the Rixos All-Inclusive Collection. The resort offers guests direct access to Meryal Waterpark.
Meanwhile, Meryal Waterpark features Rig 1938, which holds Guinness World Records for the world’s tallest waterslide tower and the greatest number of waterslides on a single tower.
Azure Beach Doha adds another leisure offering to the destination.
Together, the three operations combine accommodation, dining, wellness, family entertainment and leisure experiences. Therefore, Kasseb’s role extends beyond hotel operations to the wider destination.
Rixos leadership backs appointment
Cenk Ünverdi, Chief Operating Officer of Rixos Hotels and the All-Inclusive Collection, welcomed Kasseb back to Qatar.
“His extensive experience across several of our flagship properties, combined with his strong commercial understanding and passion for developing people, makes him ideally suited to lead Rixos Premium Qetaifan Island North, Meryal Waterpark and Azure Beach Doha,” Ünverdi said.
The appointment comes as Rixos continues to develop its presence in Qatar’s hospitality and leisure market.
