The Qatar Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MoEHE) has concluded its Summer 2026 student activity programme, bringing together more than 950 students across five government school-based summer centres.
The month-long initiative ran in partnership with 22 strategic organisations. It offered more than 500 educational and recreational activities designed to strengthen students’ academic, creative and life skills.
The closing ceremony was attended by MoEHE Undersecretary Dr Ibrahim bin Saleh Al Nuaimi.
Summer programme supports Qatar National Vision 2030
The ministry organised the programme as part of its strategy to build an integrated education system. The initiative also supports the goals of Qatar National Vision 2030 by strengthening human capital and preparing students for future opportunities.
This year’s programme adopted the theme “Invest Their Summer in Creativity.” Students participated in activities covering:
- Artificial intelligence and technology
- Cybersecurity and digital solutions
- Sustainability and climate change
- Arts, culture and design
- Islamic education
- Sports, health and nutrition
- Communication and social skills
- National identity and educational values
As a result, students gained practical exposure to emerging technologies while developing teamwork, creativity and problem-solving skills.
MoEHE highlights focus on student development
Speaking during the closing ceremony, Fatima Youssef Al Obaidli, Assistant Director of the Department of Schools and Students Affairs at MoEHE, said the summer centres reflected the ministry’s commitment to investing in people through quality educational experiences.
“The ‘Summer 2026′ activity centres embodied the Ministry’s vision of investing in people by providing a safe and stimulating educational environment that helps build students’ personalities and develop their knowledge and skills, enabling them to participate actively in shaping the future,” Al Obaidli said.
She added that student activities remain a key priority because they help learners build confidence, strengthen practical skills and develop their abilities beyond the classroom.
Furthermore, Al Obaidli said the centres successfully combined education with entertainment. The programmes also reinforced teamwork, social responsibility and national identity through workshops, competitions, field visits and community partnerships.
She added that the ministry will continue expanding and enhancing future summer programmes to meet students’ evolving needs.
Strong participation reflects parents’ confidence
Hessa Lahdan Al Muhanadi, Director of the Al-Khor Secondary School for Girls summer centre and representative of the centre directors, said the programme’s success resulted from the ministry’s continued support and commitment to nurturing student talent.
“The experience was rich and fruitful and witnessed many success stories,” Al Muhanadi said.
She noted that administrative and supervisory teams worked together to create an engaging learning environment that encouraged innovation and creativity.
Moreover, she said the growing number of participants demonstrates parents’ confidence in the programme and reflects its positive impact on students.
Focus on future-ready skills
The Summer 2026 initiative reflects Qatar’s continued investment in developing future-ready talent through experiential learning. By combining classroom knowledge with practical activities in AI, cybersecurity, sustainability and leadership, the programme aims to equip students with skills that align with the country’s long-term economic and workforce development goals.
