PwC has appointed Mutaz Al Awamleh as Director – Chief AI Architect in Dubai, reinforcing the firm’s commitment to expanding its Artificial Intelligence and GenAI capabilities across the Middle East.

The appointment comes at a time when regional businesses are accelerating AI adoption to improve efficiency, strengthen resilience, and drive innovation. PwC’s latest leadership move signals continued investment in end-to-end AI transformation services.

Strengthening PwC’s AI Leadership in the Middle East

In his new role, Al Awamleh will lead the design and execution of advanced AI systems, including Large Language Models (LLMs), Agentic AI, and applied enterprise AI solutions. He will focus on building scalable AI practices that move beyond strategy decks and deliver working technological systems.

PwC has built a strong reputation in the Middle East for navigating complex market conditions with resilience. Industry analysts often rank the firm among the region’s most established advisory networks, particularly in digital transformation and emerging technologies.

Two Decades of Global AI and Quant Experience

Al Awamleh brings more than 20 years of experience in data science, quantitative analytics, and AI engineering. His career spans the United States and the Middle East.

Before rejoining PwC, he served as Lead AI Engineer at Capgemini in Dubai. Earlier roles include leadership positions at EY and consulting engagements with U.S. institutions such as Freddie Mac and the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission.

He holds two on-campus Master’s degrees from The George Washington University in Econometrics & Finance and Strategic Planning, along with additional qualifications in Business Analytics and Data Science.

Commitment to Innovation and Regional Growth

Al Awamleh emphasised his long-term commitment to the UAE and the wider GCC region, describing Dubai as home. He acknowledged the strong institutional support within PwC, including leadership and HR teams who continue to prioritise employee well-being and stability during uncertain periods.

He also highlighted his ambition to build one of the region’s most advanced AI practices. The goal is clear: combine technical excellence with purpose-driven innovation and measurable business impact.

PwC’s continued investment in AI leadership reflects broader market trends. Governments and enterprises across the GCC are accelerating AI integration into finance, public services, energy, and infrastructure sectors.

A Strategic Move in a Competitive AI Landscape

With Dubai positioning itself as a global AI hub, leadership appointments in advanced technology roles are gaining significance. PwC’s decision to appoint a hands-on AI architect with global experience aligns with this momentum.

As AI adoption deepens across industries, firms with strong technical execution capabilities are expected to lead the next phase of digital transformation in the region.
