The Uttar Pradesh government announced in Lucknow that Noida International Airport will create new jobs as construction advances under the public private partnership model. Moreover, the update shared this week highlights steady progress at the site and explains how the airport will support workers in the surrounding region.

What changed in the airport project

Project developers Yamuna International Airport Pvt. Ltd. and Noida International Airport Ltd. confirmed that more than 30 companies now contribute to construction work. As activity accelerates, the airport workforce is set to cross 5,000 employees, all receiving statutory benefits such as minimum wages, provident fund, ESI and gratuity. Additionally, the developers continue onboarding specialised teams to speed up core engineering tasks.

Impact on local workers and jobs

From the start, the project team invested heavily in preparing local youth for industry roles. As a result, three hiring camps produced 24 offer letters, while an online job portal attracted 180 applicants. Furthermore, modernised courses at ITI Jewar gave students a direct pathway to airport employment. Out of 28 trainees, 24 secured roles in passenger handling and ramp services. Alongside this, about 100 Project Affected Family members completed English and soft skills training, which further improved their employability.

How the new system supports economic activity

Noida International Airport is built as a green facility targeting net zero operations. Consequently, its systems include solar power generation, rainwater harvesting, waste processing units and EV charging points. Together, these components support its planned capacity of 1.2 crore passengers per year. In addition, the model strengthens trade flows, boosts tourism activity and expands long term job creation across Western Uttar Pradesh.

According to developers, the airport’s connectivity features align with Swiss operational standards while integrating local service models. They also noted that the facility will function as a transport and economic hub once commercial operations begin. As construction progresses, authorities will continue training and recruitment programmes to ensure a steady supply of skilled workers.
