BlackRock has appointed Dixit Joshi as Managing Director, Middle East Technology and Advisory Solutions, and Digital Assets. Based in Dubai, Joshi will focus on expanding BlackRock’s Middle East platform across capital markets and technology.

The role will also cover Aladdin, BlackRock’s technology platform, as well as the firm’s digital assets strategy. Joshi will support this work across the Middle East and Asia Pacific.

Dixit Joshi brings three decades of financial services experience

Joshi joins BlackRock with more than 30 years of global financial services experience. His background covers finance, risk, treasury, trading, capital markets and senior business leadership.

Most recently, Joshi served as Chief Financial Officer and Executive Board Member at Credit Suisse. He held the role through the combination of Credit Suisse and UBS.

During that period, Joshi worked extensively with investors, regulators, clients and other external stakeholders. His experience also includes several senior roles at Deutsche Bank.

At Deutsche Bank, Joshi served as Group Treasurer and Global Head of Prime Finance. He also led the Fixed Income Institutional Client Group.

In addition, Joshi headed the bank’s equities businesses across EMEA and Asia Pacific. Earlier in his career, he held senior positions at Barclays and Credit Suisse First Boston in London and New York.

Joshi is also a former board member of the International Swaps and Derivatives Association.

BlackRock expands Middle East technology and advisory focus

In his new role, Joshi will work with leadership teams across the region. The focus will include delivering solutions to local clients and deepening client relationships.

BlackRock said the appointment supports its continued investment in the Middle East. The firm described the region as one of its fastest-growing markets and a strategic priority for the business.

Across the Gulf, governments, asset owners and financial institutions are driving changes in capital markets, retirement systems, technology adoption and digital assets. BlackRock said it continues to invest in local talent, capabilities and partnerships.

Charles Hatami, Senior Managing Director, Global Head of the Financial & Strategic Investors Group, Head of Middle East, and co-Head of BlackRock’s Global Partners Office, said Joshi brings broad experience across financial services.

“Dixit is one of the most respected leaders in global financial services,” Hatami said. He added that Joshi’s experience across capital markets, finance, risk management and strategic client engagement would support BlackRock’s work in the region.

Hatami also pointed to Joshi’s experience advising complex institutions and leading global businesses. He said this experience would help BlackRock deliver its capabilities to local clients.

Joshi to support digital assets strategy in the region

Joshi said the Middle East is building long-term market infrastructure. He added that technology and digital assets are becoming more central to the region’s next phase of growth.

“The Middle East is building for the long term and creating the market infrastructure of the future,” Joshi said. He added that he looked forward to working with clients and colleagues in the region.

BlackRock said its regional work covers capital markets, technology, retirement systems and digital assets. The company also continues to develop local talent and partnerships.

The appointment brings Joshi’s experience across global financial markets into BlackRock’s Middle East platform. His mandate spans technology, advisory solutions and digital assets, with a regional focus based in Dubai.
