More than 123,000 Emirati women are now working in the UAE’s private sector, according to the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MOHRE).
The ministry shared the figure on Emirati Women’s Day on August 28. The annual occasion has been extended to a month this year.
MOHRE said Emirati women are playing a growing role in the UAE labour market. Their participation now spans skilled, specialised and senior positions across different sectors.
The ministry also highlighted the growing number of Emirati women in executive and leadership roles.
“More than 123,000 Emirati women are working in the private sector, with a presence that extends beyond the numbers to meaningful roles across the labour market,” MOHRE said.
Emirati women take on senior and specialised roles
The ministry said Emirati women are no longer represented only in traditional or entry-level positions. Instead, they are taking on roles that require specialised skills and professional experience.
Their presence now extends to senior professional positions, executive roles and leadership positions, MOHRE said.
As a result, Emirati women are becoming an increasingly important part of the UAE’s private-sector workforce.
The ministry described them as key partners in the country’s development journey.
UAE policies support women’s workforce participation
MOHRE attributed the growth to the UAE’s wider framework for women’s empowerment and equal opportunities.
The ministry said government policies have helped create opportunities for Emirati women to enter and progress across different parts of the economy.
“These achievements are the result of an integrated framework of empowerment and equal opportunities,” MOHRE said.
The ministry also pointed to the UAE leadership’s focus on strengthening the skills and capabilities of Emirati women.
Emiratisation continues to reshape the private sector
The latest figure comes as the UAE continues to increase the participation of Emirati citizens in the private sector through its Emiratisation policies.
The growing number of Emirati women in skilled and senior roles also highlights the changing profile of the UAE workforce.
For employers, the trend points to a larger pool of Emirati female talent across professional, specialist and leadership positions.
MOHRE’s latest figures therefore underline the expanding role of Emirati women in the private sector and their contribution to the UAE’s broader economic development.
