According to News of Bahrain, in its report published on July 26, 2026, Bahrain entrepreneurship received fresh support after the Ministry of Industry and Commerce reserved selected heritage based commercial activities for Bahraini citizens. The initiative aims to create sustainable business opportunities while preserving the Kingdom’s cultural heritage.
Bahrain Heritage Business Opportunities expand
The new framework follows Edict No. (36) of 2026, which limits specific commercial activities to Bahraini citizens. The decision focuses on sectors linked to traditional products, cultural industries and heritage services.
The approved activities include the production of Bahraini sweets, the production and packaging of date palm blossom water and traditional local waters, traditional Bahraini crafts, heritage hospitality and catering for events, and live performances of Bahraini cultural arts.
Bahrain Entrepreneurship supports local businesses
Bahrain entrepreneurship remains at the centre of the ministry’s latest initiative. Industry and Commerce Minister Abdulla bin Adel Fakhro said the decision strengthens the country’s entrepreneurship ecosystem by providing a regulatory environment that helps citizens turn their skills into sustainable businesses.
He added that the framework allows entrepreneurs to develop their products professionally, connect with more consumers and event organisers, and increase the economic value of Bahrain’s cultural heritage while preserving its authenticity.

The ministry said the initiative creates a structured business environment for activities closely linked to Bahraini identity. Rather than simply expanding the commercial register, the decision establishes clear pathways for citizens to build businesses around heritage-based products and services.
The approach also supports wider efforts to diversify the economy by encouraging entrepreneurship in sectors with strong cultural and commercial value.
