SCC Middle East has appointed Shams Hasan as Vice President of Sales. Hasan will lead commercial development across the Middle East as the company expands its UAE based team.
In his new role, Hasan will focus on expanding SCC ME’s customer base. He will also strengthen engagement with government, critical industries and large enterprises across the region.
Shams Hasan brings regional technology experience
Hasan joins SCC Middle East from VAST Data. Most recently, he led sales and strategy across the Middle East, Türkiye and Africa.
He also served on VAST Data’s regional leadership team. During his time there, Hasan was involved in building the business in the region.
Before VAST Data, Hasan held senior roles with Dell Technologies. His experience at Dell covered the UK, Middle East, Türkiye and Africa.
Hasan also led Dell’s Realizing 2030 research in the region during his time with the company.
SCC Middle East expands its regional leadership team
SCC Middle East is building its regional operation around customer demand for AI, cybersecurity, cloud, data and mission critical infrastructure.
The company is investing in people and capabilities as it develops its Middle East operation. Hasan’s remit covers commercial development and customer growth across the region.
Daniel Valle, CEO of SCC Middle East, said the company wants to build its regional business around people who understand the market.
“Shams understands it extremely well. More importantly, he knows the people and organisations shaping it,” Valle said.
Valle added that Hasan brings experience in areas that are becoming increasingly relevant to customers. He also pointed to AI’s move from experimentation towards operational use.
Hasan to focus on sales growth and customer relationships
Hasan said SCC’s independent and family owned structure influenced his decision to join the company.
The executive said the structure allows SCC to approach customer needs without being tied to one technology or one answer.
Hasan also highlighted the importance of long term relationships in the Middle East. He said his focus will be on reaching the right organisations, delivering sales growth and building long term customer relationships.
The appointment also brings AI infrastructure experience to SCC Middle East. The company said Hasan has worked with regional organisations as they moved from exploring AI to addressing the practical challenges of production use.
SCC Middle East builds around independent technology expertise
SCC Middle East operates from the UAE and works across infrastructure, cloud, cybersecurity, data and AI.
The company says its regional operation combines local expertise and relationships with the wider SCC organisation’s capabilities and partner ecosystem.
SCC is part of a privately owned technology group. The company was founded more than 50 years ago and remains under family ownership.
James Rigby, Executive Chairman of SCC, said the ownership structure supports a long term approach to investment and customer relationships.
Rigby said the company is taking the same approach in the Middle East. He also said Hasan’s experience in building technology businesses and relationships fits the company’s regional plans.
Shams Hasan brings international academic background
Hasan holds a BSc in Electrical Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin.
He also holds an MBA from Columbia Business School, where he received Dean’s Honors. In addition, Hasan holds an MBA from London Business School, where he graduated with Distinction.
Hasan will also join Valle and the SCC Middle East team at AI Everything Abu Dhabi. The event will bring SCC together with VAST Data to meet customers, partners and prospects.
The discussions will focus on the practical requirements for secure and sovereign AI implementation, according to SCC Middle East.
